Some Tips for the mains appearing candidates (2025)
1. Trust Your Preparation: Youβve already put in months or years of effort. The next 15 days are not for learning anything new but for polishing what you know and trusting your process.
2. Peak at the Right Time: Like an athlete before a big match, avoid exhausting yourself. The goal is to reach the peak of mental sharpness and calmness by exam day, not burn out before it.
3. Focus on Revision, Not Exploration: In these final days, 90% of your time should go to revising your notes, keywords, and frameworks youβve already builtβnot opening new sources.
4. Answer Writing Daily: Practice at least 2β3 answers and 1 essay (brainstorm 20-25 mins) daily in real exam conditions (time-bound, on paper). This keeps your speed, structure, and handwriting exam-ready.
5. Previous Year Questions (PYQs): Spend an hour daily revisiting PYQs; they reveal recurring themes and examinerβs mindset, helping you predict and structure answers better.
6. Ethics & Essay Edge: A well-prepared Ethics paper and strong essays can compensate for average GS marks. Revise examples, real-life cases, and moral thinkers daily.
7. GS4 and GS2 will be boosters: as per recent trends these can give you a high RoI.
8. Time Management Strategy: In mock practice, focus on completing all 20 questions. Even few mediocre answers is better than leaving a question blank.
9. Stay Physically & Mentally Fit: Sleep 7 hours, eat light, and include 20β30 min of exercise or walk daily. A fresh mind writes better than a tired, overworked one.
10. Stay Positive, Avoid Panic: Cut down on comparisons with peers and avoid overthinking about βsyllabus not doneβ. Even toppers go in with gapsβitβs about how you present what you know.
11. Revision Techniques:
o Use short notes and mind maps for last-minute recall.
o Revise facts, committees, articles, and data at least twice before the exam.
12. Simulate Exam Environment:
If your preparation level allows, sit in full dress rehearsal mode with clock and answer bookletβ 5 papers from essay to gs4 on 3 consecutive days.
13. In case any paper not went as per the expectations, leave it, focus on the next β it is the cumulative performance that will matter
Keep Going, Keep Pushing.
