Under President Trump's foreign policy, immigration is a top priority. We've made deals with 30~ foreign countries so far to intercept, incarcerate or take migrants for us as a practical reverse refugee system.

Taking down the cartels in Latin America and the terrorists in the Middle East would enable even broader remigration operations, for America and for Europe, as the United States would have authority over intercontinental movement in a brand new way, with less interference.

The DHS funding bill signed today does not include extra funding for ICE or CBP, but both agencies remain open and fully funded. House GOP and Senate are still pursuing a separate bill, independent of Democrats, to give ICE and CBP an extra infusion of billions of dollars to double down on immigration enforcement.

President Trump's Big Beautiful Bill gave ICE and CBP a massive funding shield to operate for the next few years relatively unbothered by Congress. An additional bunch of cash on top would boost their arrest and deportations performance.

Collateral arrests of immigrants have risen even in states without viral raids.

West Virginia arrested over 10% of its noncitizen population in 8 months with the help of 287(g) agreements with police & ICE. State and local involvement produces long-term deportations.

That said, hardcore federal surges like we saw in Minneapolis, Chicago, L.A. are an effective way to net a bunch of people and could be feasible if ICE, CBP have even better community support e.g. to operate detention facilities.

We've finished out April at 1,770 police agreements with ICE. Compared to the Obama peak of 75.
