Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to share two Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) positions (42 months and 14 months, starting October 2026) currently open at the University of Liverpool, in the Department of Geography and Planning, as part of two different Horizon Europe-funded projects.
Both projects require experience in numerical modelling, preferably using Delft3D. Machine learning skills are also desirable for the CORRAL position.
1) SALINOVA – Postdoctoral Research Associate Grade 7, Spine Point 31: £39,906 per annum Fixed-term: 14 months, starting October 2026
This position will contribute to the Horizon Europe-funded project SaliNova: Advancing Europe’s Capacity to Monitor, Predict and Manage Soil Salinization for Adaptation and Mitigation with Novel Data and Tools.
2) CORRAL – Postdoctoral Research Associate Grade 7, Spine Point 31: £39,906 per annum Fixed-term: 42 months, starting October 2026
This position will contribute to the Horizon Europe-funded project CORRAL, which will support Local and Regional Authorities (LRAs) in navigating the socio-technological and ecological transitions needed for coastal communities to adapt to a changing climate.

Dear LinkedIn network, we (NTNU Faculty of Architecture and Design, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)) are hiring a #PhD candidate (4 years and fully funded) for the topic 'Bridging Adaptive Planning and Human-Centred Design to Address Climate Change Adaptation in Vulnerable Contexts'.
While #adaptation studies recognise the intertwined complexities of heterogeneous #builtenvironments and #societalvulnerabilities, methodological frameworks for harnessing the interests of #marginalisedcommunities remain generic. Few studies systematically combine methods and insights from #adaptiveplanning and #humancentreddesign approaches, and an evidence-based #spatial and #visual methodology for #decisionmaking at various scales is therefore lacking, creating a gap in practice. This methodological gap is apparent in climate change adaptation studies across the #GlobalNorth and #GlobalSouth. This PhD project therefore investigates the feasibility of combining these approaches and developing a #contextspecific, #integrated #methodology for addressing #climatechangeadaptation and human-centred design in vulnerable neighbourhoods. By combining #qualitative and #GIS based #mapping, community-oriented #visualdesign engagement methods, and #stakeholderanalysis at multiple scales and in diverse contexts, this proposal aims to address the lack of empirically grounded studies in #floodprone, #lowincome neighbourhoods in the Global North and South to demonstrate the importance of contextual influences.

DYNAMIC-AI will integrate physical modelling, dynamical understanding, machine learning, and hydrological modelling into a unified framework for analysing unprecedented and compound extremes. The project analyses wildfires, drought, heatwaves, strong wind, extreme precipitation and flooding.

Experience with at least one of hydrological modelling, land surface processes, climate data analysis, training neural networks
Hability to work independently and in a structured manner and demonstrate good collaborative skills; Good English skills, written and oral.
Experience with machine learning tools such as PyTorch is an advantage
Understanding and/or experience in studying extreme events is an advantage
Experience with statistics, uncertainty quantification or uncertainty propagation is an advantage
Familiarity with other relevant programming languages is an advantage
