The University of Calgary viciously attacked its own students protesting in solidarity with Gaza with flash bangs, rubber bullets, tear gas and mounted police. This comes a day after a member of the Blackfoot Confederacy granted permission to the encampment to occupy the space, further confirming the intertangled nature of policing, academia and settler-colonialism.

The liberators of Hind’s Hall released a statement today articulating their political vision and detailing their experience facing down the fascist NYPD.

“In the eyes of this occupying force on stolen land, we are all outside agitators. We wear this as a badge of honor.

It was our refusal to accept the terms and categories imposed on us by the university that threatened its power.
Our uncompromising commitment to nothing short of full divestment and the total liberation of Palestine threatened the jackals of the university system—administrators, donors, trustees, and talking heads—who work overtime to defang our budding revolution with bread crumb concessions.

We refused to be pacified while the blood of Palestine spills on the streets of Gaza. Instead, we forced Columbia to show the world the iron fist inside its velvet glove.”

Images from Rafah and across occupied Palestine flood our screens with fresh horror — mangled babies, bodies crushed under concrete, some vaporized by US-made bombs. Today: concentration camps in the desert, where kidnapped Palestinians are held hostage, humiliated but steadfast.

Do not let these horrors anesthetize our hearts; feel the grief in its totality—but let it fuel you.

The student intifada continues its forward march: a slow trickle of schools across the globe have begun committing to divestment from Israeli apartheid, including the Columbia-affiliated Union Theological Seminary and California State Sacramento. Seventy-six universities in Spain cut ties with “Israeli” universities, while Trinity College in Dublin nears total divestment.

The end of the semester is near: the fall will bring new opportunities for organizing and escalation, built on the foundation constructed over the past weeks.

But the summer must remain hot; our movement, re-ignited on campus, must spread to the streets, apartments and factories. It demands that we continue to shout fuck the police—and act accordingly. As the liberators of Hind’s Hall wrote today: “In the eyes of this occupying force on stolen land, we are all outside agitators. We wear this as a badge of honor.”

This morning, Edmonton police violently swept the University of Alberta Gaza solidarity encampment, making at least 2 arrests while wielding and swinging batons at students.

📍Virginia Commonwealth University

Students at VCU walked out of their commencement in protest of their schools complicity in the genocide of Palestinians. Solidarity!

Students formed the words “UC DIVEST” with their shirts in a protest at the UC Berkeley Law commencement.

📍Pitzer College

Graduates waved Palestinian flags at the Pitzer College graduation today, demanding full divestment from the Israeli apartheid regime.

📍Hiroshima

In an act of anti-imperial solidarity heard round the world, students and workers in Hiroshima marched in opposition to the zionist invasion of Rafah today.
