At least 11 students so far have been issued year-long suspensions as retaliation for a nonviolent protest in Bobst library to demand a meeting with university administration regarding disclosure and divestment from institutional investments in Israel.

We have completely exhausted all of the College's institutional processes for change. We began our campaign totally within the established rules and procedures of the College. Last night, Department of Homeland Security agents detained a Palestinian student at Columbia University, following the student and his pregnant spouse into their building in Morningside Heights, in Columbia University housing. DHS agents abducted and detained Khalil without the demonstration of a warrant or officially filed charges. Agents told Mahmoud that the State Dept. had revoked his student visa., with the arresting agent making the claim that the US State Department had “revoked that too,” in reference to his green card.
At the time of this posting, Khalil is being held in ICE detention in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
