Police Rescue Woman Found Chained To Floor inside Louisville Home

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *
Louisville, Kentucky — On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, around 7:00 p.m., Louisville Metro Police Officers were called to a home in the 1700 block of Bolling Avenue after calls came in from neighbors reporting a woman screaming for help. When the officers arrived, police said they heard and saw a woman in distress in the second-story window. Officers tried to get into the house from the front door but it was barricaded, so instead, they found a ladder and climbed in through the window. Once inside, police found the woman with a chain around her neck, which was secured by a MasterLock, and that chain was bolted to the floor with screws. Officers ripped the chain from the floor and rescued the woman from the home. She was immediately treated by first responders.

On August 18, 2023, Officers arrested 36-year-old Moises May in connection with the incident. According to May's arrest report, on Monday the woman and May had a verbal argument that became physical. May allegedly grabbed the victim and held her down on the bathroom floor while he took a machete to cut off the majority of her hair and slapped her before she was able to leave. When she came back to the home on Wednesday to get her belongings, May locked the doors with a deadbolt that only he had a key to, trapping her inside.

May forced the woman to take off some of her clothes and told her, “You’re gonna get it tonight. I told you the next time you leave and don’t come home, I’d kill you.” He also slapped her. Afterward, he took her upstairs and chained her to the floor before leaving the house, taking her phone with him. The woman was able to bust open a window and scream for help. Neighbors heard her screaming and called 911. Police said the woman and May have a child together. May is charged with kidnapping, wanton endangerment, assault and several other charges. He is currently being held on a $100,000 cash bond.

Jacksonville Officer Shoots Stabbing Suspect Charging at Him With Bucket

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *
Jacksonville, Florida — On August 6, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. officers were called to the area for a reported stabbing incident. They found a man, who has not been identified, stabbed to death in the front yard of a home on Pickett Street near Edgewood Avenue, which prompted a search for the stabber, later identified as 29-year-old Juan Johnson. Police believe Johnson and the stabbing victim knew each other. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Johnson was found lying in the bushes of a front yard and a dog was also found fatally stabbed near the same area, police said.

According to JSO, an officer told Johnson to “show his hands” multiple times, but Johnson did not comply with the officer’s demands and instead, aggressively stood up. The officer used a stun gun on Johnson but that did not stop Johnson from grabbing a large metal bucket and running toward the officer, police said. The officer then fired several rounds, striking Johnson. JSO did not say how many times he was hit. First aid was administered before paramedics arrived at the scene to take Johnson to the hospital, where he died. The officer suffered a minor injury to the arm. The State Attorney’s Office is investigating.

San Diego Police Officer Shoots Armed Man Who Fires The Gun During Foot Pursuit

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *
San Diego, California — On August 11, 2023, around 3 a.m. San Diego Police officers were called to an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Lebon Drive after a security guard reported a burglary in an underground parking garage, police said. The guard had told police that two men driving a Ford F-150 were breaking into cars. The video starts when officers arrive at the garage and two people inside the pickup truck run off in different directions. Police say there were three officers who then followed the driver, 39-year-old Justin Teague, around the complex. As the video continues, at least one officer can be heard shouting at Teague to get on the ground. After several seconds of foot chase, the video shows Teague turned toward an officer, at which point he fired his gun, police say.

The officer immediately returns fire. At least a dozen gunshots can be heard. “He’s down,” the officer is heard saying. Once Teague is on the ground, officers can be heard telling him to “stay on the ground.” They ask him where the gun is, then tell him to move away from it. Officers eventually move in to handcuff Teague. Police say when officers recovered Teague’s firearm, it was loaded and jammed with a round in its chamber. Teague was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries. The following week, Teague was charged with several counts, including attempt premeditated murder on a peace officer. The judge denied bail. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting. The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office will then review the investigation.

Chicago Officer Shoots Fellow Cop in Hand While Firing at Fleeing Car in Englewood

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *
Chicago, Illinois — On July 24, 2023, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) received a complaint for a trespassing incident in the area of 300 W. 56th Place. Chicago Police officers monitored the area through a Police Observation Device (POD) and observed a group of individuals in a cul-de-sac. Several Chicago Police Officers arrived in the area in four unmarked police vehicles. Upon their arrival, officers exited their vehicles to engage the group of individuals on foot as well as an individual driving a black sedan. While on foot, multiple officers attempted to engage the driver of the BMW sedan, as the vehicle attempted to leave the area, striking a police vehicle, and ultimately fleeing the scene. During this altercation, two officers discharged their firearms at the moving sedan.

Bodycam footage shows officers repeatedly ordering the man to pull over, but he continued to drive as many officers attempted to open the door. One officer, with his gun drawn and aimed at the BMW’s driver, yelled for his fellow officers to “watch for the crossfire” before firing three shots in the direction of the driver. The officer's initial shot appeared to have struck another CPD officer in the left hand, who was attempting to open the car door. The BMW driver was able to flee, and officers on the scene swiftly called "10-1," a police emergency, to report bullets fired by authorities. The gunshot seemed to strike the wounded officer's middle and ring fingers, according to the video. The wounded officer crouched to the ground after being shot and noticed blood gushing from his hand. A tourniquet was quickly administered by another officer. The officer was quickly transported to UChicago Medicine, but not before several neighbors began insulting the officer who shot his colleague.

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *
San Diego, California — San Diego, California — On August 15, 2023, at 1:23 a.m., San Diego Police dispatch received a 911 call from a motorist who said he had been followed and shot at by the occupants of a white Tesla. The victim was uninjured. The two men in the white Tesla fled the scene. A camera captured the moment that two men in a white Tesla fired at the victim on ben street. The Tesla came to a stop in front of the victim's car. As the victim drove around the Tesla, the driver and passenger fired shots at the victim. One occupant of the white Tesla was 33-year-old Benjamin Pickens.

Pickens was located later that same morning on the campus of Mesa College, where an officer-involved shooting occurred. During the incident, Pickens shot and killed a San Diego Police K9. Pickens later died at the Hospital. The second occupant of the white Tesla, who also fired shots at the victim on Ben street, was not located that morning. Investigators later identified the second occupant of the white Tesla as 31-year-old Xavier Benjamine Lacosta. Investigators obtained a warrant to arrest Lacosta and search his home. On august 15, at 6:45 p.m., San Diego Police detectives were serving a warrant at an apartment complex in the 6100 block of El Cajon Boulevard. A third-floor apartment in the building was identified as Lacosta's residence.

SDPD detectives set up a perimeter on the apartment building. Detectives made phone calls inside to the apartment, did call-outs directly outside of the apartment, and gave verbal commands and warnings for Lacosta to exit the apartment with his hands empty. Lacosta exited the apartment holding a firearm. Officers gave commands for him to drop the gun, and he complied by tossing the firearm at his feet. Officers commanded Lacosta to put his hands above his head. Suddenly, Lacosta lunged for the firearm and an officer-involved shooting occurred. Officers provided medical aid until the arrival of paramedics. Lacosta was pronounced deceased at the scene. Lacosta's firearm was recovered. It was determined to be a ghost gun. It was loaded with a round in the chamber.

La Mesa, California — On Sunday, August 6, 2023, two La Mesa Police Officers contacted a suspect who had an active felony warrant for burglary in the parking lot of a condominium complex at 8000 University Avenue. Officers had confirmed the status of the subject’s felony warrant and obtained a photograph of the suspect prior to contacting him. At approximately 4:13 p.m., the officers saw the suspect standing outside of the passenger side of a vehicle parked in the lot. When officers contacted the suspect, he took out a handgun and pointed it directly at an officer who was standing in front of the vehicle. It appears the suspect tried to fire at the officer multiple times but the firearm malfunctioned.

In response, one officer discharged his firearm multiple times at the suspect as he ran through the parking lot. As the suspect continued to run towards University Avenue, it appeared the suspect was trying to manipulate or clear the firearm of the malfunction. The officer discharged his firearm, striking the suspect in the upper body multiple times. This incapacitated the suspect and caused him to drop the firearm. Officers rendered first aid and called for paramedics but the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. The preliminary investigation into this incident indicates a passing vehicle was struck by a round but the motorist in that vehicle was not struck. There was also at least one round that struck a building within the lot. No officers or other persons were injured during this incident.

The suspect in this incident has been identified as Jason Hampton of La Mesa. He is described as a 41-year-old white male. The officer involved in the shooting has been identified as Brian Heller. He has been employed by the La Mesa Police Department for approximately six years. He is currently assigned as a Master Patrol Officer in La Mesa and has been placed on paid leave per the La Mesa Police Department’s standard protocol following an officer-involved shooting incident. The second officer present did not fire his weapon during this incident. Per the Countywide Memorandum of Understanding, the San Diego Police Homicide Unit was called to the scene to conduct the officer-involved-shooting investigation. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered at the scene

The caller said that a man armed with a tennis racket had been burglarizing a vehicle, prompting officers to respond to the scene. A K-9 officer arrived and began searching for the suspect, later identified as 57-year-old Richard O'Donnell, eventually discovering him nearby with the tennis racket still in hand. According to the DBPD, the K-9 officer identified as Officer Joshua Martin, gave O'Donnell multiple commands to get on the ground and cooperate. He provided an address to an apartment located in the 3600 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard. A few minutes later his sister 25-year-old Sandra Lopez- Ochoa also reported a domestic disturbance through communications center. Officer Sacba and his partner responded and contacted Lopez-Ochoa’s brother, who was waiting outside of the apartment. Officer Sacba and his partner contacted Lopez-Ochoa inside of the apartment where she was sitting on a couch in the living room.

After a few minutes of speaking with her, she stood up and an officer grabbed her left arm to place her in handcuffs. Lopez-Ochoa then reached down toward the couch where she was sitting and produced a knife. She quickly turned toward the officer who was holding her arm and stabbed him on top of his head. Lopez-Ochoa then turned toward Officer Sacba while armed with the knife. Officer Sacba drew his firearm and discharged his duty weapon toward Lopez-Ochoa. She was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground. Medical personnel were summoned for both, the officer and for Lopez-Ochoa. Bodycam Video Shows The Fatal Police Shooting of Ta’Kiya Young

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *
Columbus, Ohio — On August 24, 2023, Blendon Township police officers were assisting a driver locked out of her car in the Kroger parking lot on Sunbury Road. As the officers were helping, a Kroger employee pointed out to one of the officers that someone who had stolen bottles of alcohol from the store was -- at that moment -- fleeing. Store employees later reported that several suspects had been stealing items, but the other suspects had fled in other cars. However, this particular female suspects who had been pointed out to the officer, was in a Lexus sedan with no license tags parked in a handicapped spot right in front of the store.

The Franklin County Coroner identified the suspect as 21-year-old Ta'Kiya Young and confirmed she was pregnant. Young started the car. One officer approached from the driver’s side and ordered Young to stop and get out of the car. She ignored the order. Another officer came in front of the car and also ordered Young to get out of the car. Despite being ordered to get out of the car more than a dozen times, she refused to do so. Young put the car in gear and accelerated forward. The officer who was directly in the path of the oncoming car fired one shot through the front windshield. The car kept moving and officers ran after it for about 50 feet. It then came to a stop on the sidewalk outside the store.

Because the driver’s door had been locked, officers immediately broke the driver’s window so they could attend to Young and begin medical assistance. Officers also immediately called for EMS. The officer who fired the shot sprinted to his car to get a trauma kit, which he quickly employed. A passing ER doctor assisted. Young died at St. Ann’s hospital, which was the closest ER. The two officers’ names, ages and races were not immediately released. They are on paid administrative leave while the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation examines the shooting, which is standard in cases of police use of deadly force. Young was expected to give birth to a daughter in November. She also was the mother of two young sons, ages 6 and 3.

Deputy Barks Like Police K-9 to Trick Car Theft Suspects into Surrendering

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *
University Place, Washington — On August 18, 2023, at 08:25 am, University Place Deputies responded to a call of a stolen vehicle at the Cemetery at 9200 Chambers Creek Way. As the Sergeant was getting close a Lakewood and Steilacoom Officer had arrived as the vehicle started to leave. The Sergeant was able to pull over and deploy his stop sticks to wait for the stolen vehicle. The spike deployment was perfect and got all 4 tires flat, however the suspects took off and the deputies had to terminate the pursuit.

Officers later found the vehicle unoccupied and still running at 7500 Bridgeport Way. Other Deputies surrounded the nearby area and started to check for the juveniles. One deputy could see two of the suspects down in a creek bed. He chose a very interesting way to get them to comply. The deputy can then be heard barking like a dog. After the deputy imitated a dog bark multiple times, the four juveniles came out of the creek bed and surrendered. The Suspects actually believed there was a dog, and, in the end, they told the deputies, soon as they heard that dog, they gave up.

15-year-old Suspect Gets Shot by Cops After Shooting into Crowd Following High School Football Game

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *
Jacksonville, Florida — On Friday, August 18, 2023, a high school football game was scheduled at First Coast High School. Earlier that day, JSO and the Duval County school police received intelligence of potential violence between rival groups of the football game. Based on this intelligence, these law enforcement agencies deployed additional officers to protect those attending the game. The two shooting officers, Officers Eleftheriadis and Lowe were on scene at First Coast High School that evening as part of the safety deployment.

Immediately preceding this critical incident, they conducted a traffic stop near the school parking lot entrance. That traffic stop resulted in the arrests of multiple individuals on Firearms charges. At 8:56 p.m., while the two shooting officers were still handling the traffic stop, a large fight broke out in the parking lot. Approximately 30 to 40 people were involved in this fight. Immediately, the shooting officers ran towards the fight. Then, 15-year-old Devonn Thompson, who was positioned on the opposite side of the fighting group from the officers, opened fire.

Both officers armed themselves with their service weapons and shot at Thompson. Thompson fled on foot and the officers ran after him. During the foot pursuit, the officers repeatedly yelled loud verbal commands at Thompson to drop his gun. Thompson did not comply with these directives and continued running. The officers fired additional rounds. Thompson jumped the fence and ran across Duval Station Road. An officer apprehended Thompson outside a nearby convenience store. Shortly thereafter, officer Lowe arrived where Thompson was apprehended.

Together, these officers safely handcuffed Thompson, called for paramedics and immediately began emergency medical care. When paramedics arrived, Thompson was transported and treated at an area Hospital and then was released the next day. He sustained a graze wound to his head and a gunshot wound to his right hip. Thompson was booked into the jail on multiple felony charges stemming from this incident. Thompson is currently charged with the following felonies: discharge of a Weapon on School Property, Possession of a Firearm on School Property and Carrying a Concealed Firearm.

While rendering emergency medical care to Thompson on scene, the shooting officers located Thompson's gun tugged inside his pants. Crime scene detectives responded to the scene and collected Thompson's gun, a 9mm handgun with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine. This firearm had been reported stolen on August 13, 2023, during an auto theft. Additionally, crime scene detectives collected two casings from the First Coast High School parking lot. These casings were forensically confirmed to have been ejected from Thompson's gun.

Suspect Gets Tased and Arrested After Exchanging Gunfire With LAPD Officers

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *
Los Angeles, California — On August 6, 2023 at around 12:20 p.m., Olympic Division Patrol officers were driving east on the 2600 block of Pico Boulevard when they saw the suspect, later identified as 29-year-old Jose Delgado-Pinto, standing in the opposing lanes of traffic pointing a handgun at them. As the officers stopped their vehicle in the roadway, Diego-Pinto fired at them, which resulted in an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS). Delgado-Pinto ran one block east and discarded his handgun near the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Dewey Avenue.

Responding patrol units located Delgado-Pinto at the southwest corner of Pico Boulevard and Berendo Street. Delgado-Pinto took a fighting stance, which resulted in the deployment of a TASER. He fell to the ground and was subsequently taken into custody. Delgado-Pinto was struck by gunfire during the OIS and transported by Fire Department paramedics to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released. He was later booked for attempt murder. The investigation determined that the police vehicle was struck by gunfire; however, no officers or community members were injured during this incident. Delgado-Pinto’s firearm, which was identified as a 'Ghost Gun', was recovered at scene.

Intense Video Shows Chicago Police Officers and Suspect Struggle Over Gun in Deadly Confrontation

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *
Chicago, Illinois — On August 11, 2023, around 5:30 p.m. two on-duty Chicago police officers in a marked police vehicle observed a confrontation between two individuals near 1100 W. 111th Street. The officers reportedly observed 36-year-old Louis C. Gordon-Hay with a gun in his back pocket. When the officers engaged, Gordon-Hay fled, and officers pursued him into a residence. Inside the residence, officers gave verbal commands to drop the weapon, as they struggled over the Gordon-Hay’s firearm. Gordon-Hay and one of the officers both discharged their weapons, at which time Gordon-Hay was struck and transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

A gun was recovered on scene. After the shooting, the partner of the officer who fired the shot can be seen running out to their squad car to retrieve what appears to be a first aid kit, before going back inside the house. He later also can be heard struggling to breathe, as other officers tell him to take deep breaths, before offering to drive him to the hospital to get checked out. No officers were wounded in the shooting, but police reports two officers suffered bruises and abrasions from the struggle, and police have said two officers were taken to the hospital for observation. Both officers involved in the shooting were placed on 30 days of administrative duty after the shooting.

Wanted Fugitive Gets Shot by Colorado Springs Police Officers After Brandishing a Gun

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *
Colorado Springs, Colorado — During the morning of Thursday, August 17, 2023, the United States Marshals and Colorado Department of Corrections - Division of Parole requested the Colorado Springs Police Department's Tactical Enforcement Unit, or TEU, assist them with apprehending a wanted fugitive in Colorado Springs. The fugitive, identified as 37-year-old Benjamin Annaboli, had been observed by US Marshals and parole officers and a parking lot of a hotel in the 1700 block of Aero Plaza Drive. Annaboli was identified as a violent offender with several outstanding arrest warrants for felony criminal offenses. TEU officers went to the hotel, located a person they believed was Annaboli and attempted to arrest him.

Annaboli fled on foot, running toward the front entrance of a hotel while holding a handgun in each of his hands. As Annaboli fled on foot, a uniformed CSPD officer yelled at him to stop and that he was under arrest. Annaboli refused these commands, pointed a handgun toward another uniformed CSPD officer, and refused two loud commands to drop his gun. A CSPD canine officer also released a canine in an attempt to apprehend Annaboli, and the canine chased Annaboli, and began biting him. Annaboli attempted to fight the canine off and turn towards CSPD officers while still holding a handgun. Two CSPD officers then fired their guns at Annaboli, and the shots hit him and caused him to fall to the ground.

As the officers approached Annaboli, they observed a handgun on the pavement near him and another handgun in one of his hands. After Annaboli was struck by the gunfire officers, took him into custody and provided emergency medical care until paramedics arrived. Annaboli was transported to an area hospital, where he died from the gunshot injuries he sustained. Investigators located two handguns in the area where Annaboli was shot by police officers. The first handgun was dropped on the ground by Annaboli, and the second handgun was in his hand when police officers took him into custody.

The officers involved in this incident:
- Officer Brian Kelly, assigned as a canine handler in the specialized enforcement division. Officer Kelly has been employed by the Colorado Springs Police Department for 22 years.
- Officer Matthew Waters, assigned as a tactical officer in the specialized enforcement division. Officer Waters has been employed by the Colorado Springs Police Department for 11 years.
