Polish truckers are blockading three crossing to Ukraine for commercial vehicles.
In retaliation, the Ukrainian state has illegally removed 500 Polish drivers located in Ukraine from the e-queue system of waiting to being inspected before leaving Ukraine. This means that they will have to wait much longer to return to Poland. It is not known whether the Ukrainian administration will repeat this maneuver.
It is worth pointing out that, apart from the obvious injustice and difficult conditions to which Polish drivers are exposed in Ukraine, they are also at risk of punishment. If they do not leave Ukraine within 20 days, each carrier will pay a fine of 5,000 euro. Carriers demand help from the Polish government and the introduction of equal conditions of competition for Polish and Ukrainian transport companies.
The share of Polish companies in bilateral transport between Poland and Ukraine has decreased to several percent since the EU released transport from Ukraine to the West. We are dealing with at least a threefold increase in road transport operated by Ukrainian entities.
When the permits were in force, carriers from Ukraine had only a slight advantage. The owners of Polish road transport companies indicate that they have practically lost the eastern market and that the industry will face a wave of bankruptcies in the coming quarters.
