Pathogenesis Versus Salutogenesis
Why do some people manage to get through winter without suffering from a single cold? How do some cancer patients manage to survive against all odds? Why do some even return to complete health again?
The secret behind it has a name: salutogenesis (from salus, “healthy” and genesis, “origin”, “emergence”).
The three salutogenic principles:
1. The patient should trust their naturopathy practitioner.
2. The patient should first learn to understand what is happening in their body with the help of their naturopathy practitioner. This is the reason why they need the help of the practitioner in the first place.
3. The patient needs to become part of the whole and not turn into a consumer. The patient is the one who is responsible for their health.
