【 Genshin Impact - V5.7 - Story Crumbs 】
The traveler feels exhausted and has unsettling dreams of a foggy, dark space where something pierces their back, leaving a sense of loss. Paimon, grows worried about their condition.
Paimon suggests consulting Baizhu. Concerned by the Traveler’s black circles and frequent dazing, Paimon takes them to see Baizhu. Baizhu examines the Traveler and finds no physical ailments, suggesting a non-physical cause like a curse, shamanic influence, or mental fatigue. He recommends rest and research into ancient texts, offering a room for recovery.
While resting, the Traveler dreams again of the foggy space, feeling a piercing sensation in their back but waking with no visible wound. Paimon checks and finds nothing, proposing it’s just a nightmare and suggesting they eat at Wanmin Restaurant to cheer up.
During the meal, Skirk, Tartaglia’s master from the Abyss, suddenly joins them. She reveals the Traveler’s soul has a "gap" eroded by abyssal forces, part of a larger phenomenon where power is being drained from the world—stars extinguishing, demon remnants fading, and more. Skirk proposes a partnership to recover the Traveler’s soul fragment and investigate the culprit, instructing them to meet her at Guili Plains.
At Guili Plains, beastly hounds collect "demon remnants," which Skirk explains are being stolen, mirroring the Traveler’s soul loss. She notes 42 stars have gone dark in recent months, hinting at a greedy entity siphoning power, now targeting the Traveler.
Skirk takes them to her abyssal home. Skirk brings the Traveler and Paimon to her "home" in the Abyss, where time flows slower (a month inside equals a day outside), offering a safe haven and time to strategize. She suggests using an abyssal crystal to mirror their dreams, allowing her to investigate the foggy space while the Traveler sleeps.
Skirk trains the Traveler in swordsmanship, emphasizing a personal "style" over mere techniques, drawing from their past encounters with swordsmen like Kaeya and Kazuha. The Traveler refines their skills through relentless practice, achieving a breakthrough.
The Traveler glimpses Skirk’s past. Through the dream-mirroring, the Traveler enters Skirk’s inner world, guided by a "Strange Creature" (her suppressed emotions). They witness her idyllic childhood on a distant planet, her curiosity about the universe, and a devastating invasion by an army fearing her people’s adaptability. Her parents die urging her to flee, and she’s rescued by Surtalogi, the "Evil Knight," who trains her harshly, suppressing her emotions.
Skirk reconciles with her past. The Strange Creature confronts Skirk, urging her to embrace her suppressed emotions. With the Traveler’s support, Skirk accepts her past self, restoring her inner strength as her fragmented psyche heals, symbolized by a purified river in her mind.
Skirk and the Traveler face Skofnungr, a Khaenri’ahn noble and Surtalogi’s follower, who steals the Traveler’s soul fragment and mimics Surtalogi’s form. In a fierce battle, Skirk overloads Skofnungr with abyssal energy, and the Traveler lands the decisive blow, defeating him.
Skofnungr’s redemption. Skofnungr, remorseful, shares his history with Surtalogi, a friend who cures his illness and inspires him, only for Skofnungr to fall behind and resort to stealing power. Instead of death, he asks Skirk to purify him, hoping to witness her future clash with Surtalogi.
The stolen powers return, stars reignite, and the world stabilizes. Skirk, softened by the journey, departs to grow stronger and face Surtalogi someday, aspiring to create a just order. The Traveler and Paimon, now closer, plan a night under the stars, ready for their next adventure.

"The Fairy of Fondant Felicity? The Towering Tyrant of Taste? Oh, Escoffier's hardly the terror the papers make her out to be. She simply loves cooking, and she can be a bit... strict about it. Is it so surprising that she doesn't respect those who don't take cooking seriously? Don't worry, I just know you'll get along — like cinnamon and vanilla!"
