Just opening up, no need to read if you're just here for art! Just ... Quite a few people have mentioned me sharing has helped them with their own stuff. So ... Thus i am compelled.
Tw: hospital, emergencies, mourning
Visiting my dad in the hospital today; there were 2 different stroke alerts. One turned into a code. One was 2 rooms over and I'm unsure what happened but the other resident of the double room was moved out to the hall.
Both times when the alert was called my vision got almost grey and pinholed. I couldn't really pay attention to what was going on around me, and quickly dissociated.
As I dissociated visions of my mom in the hospital immediately after her massive stroke swam in my mind...
It reminded me a lot of when I had symptoms the first time I had PTSD, though I handled this infinitely better. I was able to stay outwardly calm and collected, learn the caregiving physical maneuvers the staff was teaching me, etc.
Inside I was a thunderstorm, a torrential downpour.
Dad's being discharged tomorrow, he will finally be home though his hip will take quite a few more months to heal. I will have my work cut out for me. Manually and mentally. It's going to be a lot. That's okay.
I don't know how *I* will be. For conversations, for timeliness. Just... give me grace as I navigate this new terrain.

My dad came home from the hospital yesterday!!
I was so overjoyed I kept singing and doing little dances and chants. Dads home! Dad's home! Party time! Party day! Yay yay!
He needs help to do most things, even things we don't think about like adjusting slightly away from the edge of the bed. And of course bigger things like dressing, bathroom, etc.
I had to put him in adult briefs during training (read: diaper) and everyone was like wow you're so good at this have you worked in healthcare??? 😬
I mean I did for like 6 years! But not in that capacity haha. Oops secret skill🙈
I'm just so glad to have him home. And he's glad to be home. It's 8:20 AM and he's still asleep -- he's usually up by 5 or 6. I'm so happy he's finally resting.
Teldra and I have our work cut out for us, but it's worth it.
I want to keep working on artfight! My queue is included; if something seems amiss lemme know. I do work out of order at times, easier things like filling a base ych or a sketch might get worked on in-between bigger pieces. But expect things to slow while I get used to very hands on like 18 hour a day caregiving. Plus artfight!
I feel bad not revenging every attack but there's so many artists and characters I wanna attack so idk what to do!!!
I like to keep my queue around 10, so if anyone is looking for anything, lemme know!

I hate my tremors y'all. I felt inspired to break out my microns and I feel like my skill fell back like 6 years. Traditional might take some physical therapy 🤩
Other artists: I was working on an 8.5x5.5 pad, sketch lined with 005, 02, 08 microns. Should I return using larger paper? Smaller? Thicker lines? My lines just shake so bad

Those who know me, know that I love dinosaurs and have loved them from a very young age.
Today we lost someone who was incredibly important to many of our lives, Mister Sam Neill.
If you don't know who he is, he is the actor who played Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park movies which played a very pivotal roll in my life
as well as the lives of many others who love and grew up with the movie series and who were inspired to become paleontologists or even just
paleoartists because of these movies.
He will be greatly missed.

Someone turned one of my adoptables into their primary sona (you know who you are!) and any time I see art of them in the wild I just get the biggest grin and feel so fuzzy inside.
