Cast volume controls is fixed with January security patch for Pixel devices
Mishaal Rahman

Apparently cast volume controls is now working normally with the January update for Pixel devices, according to Mishaal Rahman.

Earlier Google said they have disabled cast volume controls due to a legal issue, which is later confirmed due to Sonos lawsuit. In the first beta of Android 12L, it kind of return back but only halfway, you can't control it with the volume keys yet. With the January update that is just rolled out yesterday, Google has finally restored the default behaviour.

The relevant patch for the cast volume controls can be found here. Google has probably found some other way to bypass the lawsuit, but no one is sure for now.

YouTube let you sign in with a easier way and play video repeatedly on your TV
Android Police (2)

It's great that you can stream YouTube videos on your TV for a better viewing experience, but you probably know the inconvenience of controlling it. It's a little tough to sign in on your TV, and also you can't loop videos, but things are about to change.

Kind of something similar to what Google announced in CES 2022, you can use your phone to quickly setup your Chromebook, now you can use your phone to sign in YouTube on your TV. You no longer need to use the on-screen keyboard to manually type in sign-in information which is a pain.

Also in the news, YouTube have finally added a repeat option so the video can be played repeatedly on your TV. The option has been available since last year for mobile and desktop users, but now TV users will be able to enjoy the feature. The feature is slowly rolling out to all users soon.
