Android 13 “Tiramisu” come with big changes for notification, new lock screen clock options and more
XDA Developers

Android 12L will be released to the stable channel in Q1 2022, and we already got some early looks of what's coming on Android 13.

A few days ago, Android Police has reported Android 13 will come with per-app language settings, and XDA Developers provided screenshots and prove that the feature is currently being worked on. Next, notifications will become a runtime permission on Android 13 (POST_NOTIFICATIONS). You will be able to choose whether to allow that specific app to send notifications via the app permission menu.

Android 13 is also working on The Android Resource Economy (TARE). Not sure how I am going to explain but read more over at the article. Lastly, Android 13 let you choose to retain the single-line clock layout. Sadly, no persistent double-line clock layout.

That will sum up some of the upcoming features in Android 13. Learn more in the original article.
Best wishes for a joyous Christmas filled with love, happiness and prosperity!

Merry Christmas and have a great day.

December update shall bring a lot of fixes to supported Pixel devices, but the Pixel 6 presented it in the opposite way. Android 12L will be a marketing name, also releasing to partners as second Quarterly Platform Release
Mishaal Rahman

We know that Android 12L is going to be a version that is optimised for large screen devices, at the same time it will be bring in some improvements over to mobile devices. We expect Android 12L to be released to all Android devices soon as usual, but apparently it might not be the case.

Mishaal Rahman said that one of his source suggested that the Android 12L will be releasing to Android partners as a second Quarterly Platform Release. Also, he mentioned that Android 12L is just a public marketing name, as ro.build.version.release_or_codename will still be "12" instead of "12L."

If this is true, then Android 12 itself will be representing the API number 31 and 32, which will be the first time we will be seeing a same version number covering two APIs number. Anyway, take this info as a grain of salt for now.

Future Google Pixel could get under-display camera
Let's Go Digital

These days we hardly can see any notchless phones, with Pixel phones going with a hole punch design in 2020. Soon Google could be making a Pixel phone with notchless design once again.

Let's Go Digital shared out a new patent information of a future Google Pixel phone. It shows the phone will include a pair of front cameras with other sensors under the screen. Meanwhile the light sensor will be placed on the left side.

For now, no one is sure whether this new technology will debut with the Pixel 7 series or not. Nevertheless, excited to see a bezel-less + notchless design of a Pixel phone.

Google Photos for Android let you disable grid autoplay, losing options to backup photos and videos separately with cellular data
9To5Google (2)

Recently, Google did some minor changes over to the Photos app, now you can enable or disable photo grid playback, meanwhile they seems to have removed options for those who just want to upload photos with cellular data but not videos (or vice versa).

You can now disable autoplay media over at Photos Settings > Photo grid playback If you find it to be annoying. There are two options under this section, "Videos" and "Motion photos." It has widely rollout for all Android users.

Going to Photos Settings > Back up & sync > Cell data usage as of today, you will now only see a few preset options under daily limit for backup section and a toggle for roaming backup with cellular data. Earlier there used to show two more options which let you toggle whether to back up photos or videos with cellular data, but seems like it has been removed for all Android users.

Chrome for Android testing out popup style context menu
The browser by Google is experimenting with a new style of context menu on Android, which is something similar on the desktop version context menu.

Currently, when you long-press on a link or image, Chrome will show you a popup window with several options. The new context menu that is under testing will show in a popup style just like when you right-click on your desktop.

The feature is hidden under chrome://flags/#context-menu-popup-style flag, and the flag is added in Chrome 99, the version will take a few months to reach stable release.
