Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro peak wired charging speed matched peak wireless charging speed, as Google confirmed
9To5Google

A lot of people assume that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro should be charging at up to 30W with wired charging as Google provides a 30W fast charging brick separately, but apparently it not the case as Google confirmed it. Earlier Android Authority had done a charging test with the Pixel 6 Pro, and they found out that the peak charging speed is capped at around 22W, which is similar to Google's explanation.

Google said that the Pixel 6 will charge up to 21W and Pixel 6 Pro up to 23W for the first 50%, with both device reaching it around 30 minutes. One hour charge should bring the battery level at around 80%, the last 20% Google said: "charging power is gradually reduced in order to improve battery longevity." Their testing are done with their own 30W USB-C Power Charger.

And so this bring up a conclusion, the peak wired charging for both Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are same as peaked wireless charging. So no matter you charge it with wired or wireless method, you should be getting similar charging result. With that said, Google just open up pre-order for the 2nd-gen Pixel Stand.

Pixel 6 modem seems to fall shorts on signal and network speed comparing to Galaxy S21
PCMag

A signal and network speed test from PCMag shows that the Pixel 6 isn't good at connectivity when compared to a Snapdragon powered Galaxy S21.

As we can see from the statistics, the Galaxy S21 easily beat six out seven tests in capturing signals. And in the speed test, the Galaxy S21 manage to get 2Gbps speed but the Pixel 6 Pro only just reached 1Gbps, also winning most of the tests.

The Pixel 6 Pro included Samsung modem, and the Snapdragon powered Galaxy S21 includes X60 modem. After seeing the above report, we know that Qualcomm is way ahead at this department. Pixel 6 Pro sure, can still connect to the Internet and receive signals normally, but it isn't any better than Snapdragon powered phones, hope Google and Samsung can improve it next year.

Chrome for Windows 7 is extending support till Jan 2023
Windows 7 has been officially ended support by Microsoft on January 14, 2020, but if you have Extended Support, you can get update longest until January 10, 2023. Google originally planned to drop Chrome support for Windows 7 users on July 15, 2021, but later extended it to January 15, 2022. And the latest changes is that Google will be supporting it till January 2023, extending it by another year.

Google updated their blog post to say that they are extending support "in order to protect enterprises that are continuing their transition away from Windows 7." They have also updated their support page about that they are extending the support for Windows 7 till a later date too.

It indeed a good news for those who are still running Windows 7 as their main computer operating system, and if Chrome is extending the support, other Chromium browsers are following suit too, with Microsoft promising update for Edge on Windows 7 till the same date.

You can make Chrome menu having rounded corner to suit your Windows 11 computer
9To5Google

On Windows 11, opening application window will show you rounded corner, including Chrome, and Google is expanding it to its menu.

On Chrome 96, which is in stable channel now, go to chrome://flags/#win11-style-menus and enable the flag, and you should be able to see your menu are now rounded, and it works on all Windows version too, select “All Windows versions” option for it to work on older Windows computer.

It actually kind of another borrowed feature from Edge as Microsoft added it earlier (also flag available for all Windows version too), but anyway cool to see Chrome is adapting to the Windows 11 design language.

Google Play Store web interface to get a big change (Confirmed!)
9To5Google | Previous post

Nearly a month ago, we have shared (check previous post) that Play Store web interface is about to get a big redesign, and seems like it is literally confirmed at this point. 9To5Google has showed more screenshot of the redesign, and here how it looks like.

On the main page of the Apps section, you will get to see Top charts, followed by a carousel. Searching for an app will show you three top results, and Related Searches below. Entering the app info page will show the app icon on the right. The app name, developer, Install button, and rest of the data are displayed on the left. Below you will see the app screenshots, with developer contact and suggested apps displayed beside it.

They also show other sections like Games, Movies and Books but since not much people browse those section I believe, so discover rest of it for yourself. Once again thanks to this guy for sharing it a month ago.
