Stick together dont let them flank you. United we stand divided we fall. Be strong on the edges soft in the middle. Split their forces up or stop their advance by holding the sides of the street and not the middle of it

The middle forces will then push forward while the sides stop giving an opportunity to prevent being split and surround the cops instead of facing a strong line

When a police line pushes, they will push forward as a line. If you hold the middle they will just keep pushing you. When you hold the edges, the sides have to push a more concentrated group leaving space in the middle can force the middle troops who dont see the edges to advance and they are now split and able to be surrounded. Holding the edges is one tactic to stop a police lines advance. If they bull rush, then this isnt going to work
