....anyone got any idea why they are all so different in their growth?....all the same Moneymaker strain, all in the same compost mix....only difference is location....is this what's making such a vast difference?....
.....pulled the garlic today, as the ground has been quite damp for a few days and the stalks have all fallen over so it looked like a good time....the bulbs are quite small and some havnt separated properly, but overall I'm very pleased with a good haul of garlic....hopefully will last us several months....

....Weekly Garden Update....

09/07/24

We start this week up at the onion beds, the white onions are doing ok, they have been covered to prevent them being eaten, but the second sowing hasn't done so well yet....the red onions have bolted and many have gone to seed, I'm not sure I'd bother growing from onion sets again as this seems to be a common problem....down to the butternut squash, doing ok, the tomatoes have picked up well in the green house and the chillies and peppers are doing well too, the currants, rhubarb and little apple tree look good in the fruit bed and the parsnips are also looking nice. Across to the baths where the dwarf beans, spring onions and carrots are all good, and some newly planted tomatoes are looking a little shocked....inside the greenhouse there are leek seedlings, peppers, chillies and lettuces all doing well, outside the chard is seeding and the tree spinach is growing well too....a few alpine strawberries and the kitchen garden is really doing nicely....

....the garlic, cucumbers spinach, leeks for seed, onions for seed, radishes for the pods and various lettuces and herbs are all thriving and we've also got some lovely flowers blooming for the bees....down to the cauliflower in the little cage, the beetroot and spinach in desperate need of weeding and the kale, cabbages and purple sprouting broccoli in the larger cage....potatoes have been a bit disappointing so far, the first ones I planted seemed to stop growing after I mounded them up, and I've cropped 3 bags so far with only about 11 spuds in total....we will see how the rest of them do in a few weeks....lastly the tomatoes in the polytunnel looking a bit strange but they are not dead yet so that's a bonus....
That's all this week folks, thanx for watching....
