....the very rainy few weeks we have had has left the ground very waterlogged here, especially the area in front of the stage/ woodshed....because we process all of our firewood there it's got very muddy and because the ground is very clay here, it doesn't drain off that well....so I've dug a trench in front of the stage, put a sand layer in and a length of perforated drainage pipe, leading off into the hedge....I will cover over the top with a layer of gravel when I've been to the builders yard tomorrow....then a load of woodchip all over the area sometime later in the year....

....been working on the polytunnel today....

....first we secured it to the ground with stakes at each corner and bolted through the frame....then added the door frame....
.....then we added the window frame in the back for ventilation....
....next we dug a trench all the way round, to hold the plastic sheet down....

....a really big sheet....
....draped over to start....
....tensioned and we are pretty pleased with the results....

First time ive done a polytunnel from scratch....the frame was an old trampoline we got for free, the plastic sheet cost £40, various screws, timber and fixings from stock....Big thanx to my mate who came up in 20°+ sunshine to give me a hand....just got the door and window to fit tomorrow, then we will start putting plants in....
