....we don't really do home schooling anymore as our youngest is 17 now, but today's project was to rebuild a shed for her that she was given by her Grandad....we dismantled it a few weeks ago from his allotment, tied it onto the trailer to get it home and today was such lovely weather we decided to put it all together again....20% me, 80% her....needs a new door and a window but the main part of the job is done....

....went out to the local woods today with the battery chainsaw....it's very quiet for a bit of Pirate logging....🏴☠️....sawed it all up at home with the petrol chainsaw as it's so much quicker, then chopped a couple of baskets to last the next few days.....was a lovely sunny afternoon and I had a very pleasant time....🪓🌞

....a very different day today, it snowed during the night but then started raining this morning, so now we have damp field again....fortunately I'm sat inside with the burner on, lovely and warm, having a well earned day off....🥃🔥🥃

....so, now we are past the solstice and the days are getting longer again for a few months, it's good to reflect on the achievements of the last year and to plan ahead for the following one....
It seems a long time ago now, that I was sat here at the start of last winter, we had only been here for six months and were a bit under prepared for the colder months....we spent most of the winter only ever a couple of weeks ahead with our firewood and were a bit short on solar power on a few occasions too....but we got through, had some good fun sledging and doing winter stuff....spring came and we got very busy in the garden, we grew more food this year than we've ever managed before. Good crops of potatoes, tomatoes, onion, garlic, chard, kale, leeks, gherkins, and a host of other things too....dismal failure on broccoli, cabbage and sprouts but it's all a learning curve....had a few lovely events in the Whisky Bar during the better weather and some great musicians ( big thanks to you all) came and graced our humble stage....met some more folk, both locally and from further afield to spread the network of resistance, good people one and all 🥃🔥🥃.
Autumn came, it rained a lot....then rained some more....the field got very wet and soggy for a while, but it's drying out again now for the festive season. We've all been very busy of late earning a bit of money to tide us over the Winter rest. We now have very healthy supplies of food, firewood and family to last us for a considerable time...
I'm not really gonna talk about the "political" situation we find ourselves in as we all know it's a shambolic shitshow and there isn't enough space here for me to list the issues and propose solutions....but I don't need to really, if you're reading this you probably already know the solutions....grow food, learn skills, become more self reliant, keep fit and healthy, be honourable and help to support others who are doing the same....buy some silver and get a CB radio too....😂😂
....we've already planted garlic for next year, I've got onion sets ready to go in a new veg bed (was hoping to get it done before now, but ran out of time) already planning my planting and garden improvements for next year....possible small improvements to our solar setup, more fruit trees going in, maybe start managing the willow a bit better too....got a lot of plans that you'll see over the coming months on the channel....
