....the old corrugated roofing sheets are damp above my head....they are old, very old....before they were here, they were the roof of the old Whisky Bar for a few years, when we lived north of here, before that they were on a barn roof for thirty years, and when we re-roofed the barn, the roofing sheets were in the scrap pile until I reclaimed them, trimmed the rusty ends off and repurposed them for the Bar roof....when we took them off the barn I noticed holes in them where they had been used previous to this as well, holes from old fixings from a life before the barn roof....so I don't know exactly how old they are, but they are certainly older than me....
The water that fell as rain a few days ago, has been collected and then heated up in buckets on the fire from wood I've scavenged from the hedgerow....I put the hot water in an old bin around the back and a small pump sends it out of the showerhead and cascading over me....the steam makes the roof wet....I'm thinking about all the things that these roof panels have been before they were repurposed again into becoming the roof for my shower....it's probably the best shower I've ever had....

....Garlic sprouting day 6....had to move some of the bulbs onto bigger glasses as the roots were nearly to the bottom of the small glasses....should have plenty to plant out at the weekend....

....Garlic sprouting Day 7....three of the bulbs have rooted well and got green shoots from every clove, two have some roots and a few small shoots, one has just a few roots showing no shoots yet....will be planting some out this weekend....

....Garlic planting day....lovely weather, a nicely tilled bed to put them in and we've now got 30 garlic in to harvest next year....

....an update on the garlic sprouting....the second lot of garlic bulbs havnt rooted as fast as the first load did, so I won't be able plant the next lot this weekend....maybe the change in the weather has slowed them down....I'll plant them in a week or two I think, when they've all got good roots and shoots....

....update on the garlic sprouting....got a lot of roots and shoots except the little one at the front which still only has roots....it's one of my homegrown ones from this year, so maybe it's just a bit slower....

....went to visit some friends in the Cotswolds at the weekend and visited a local Long Barrow burial mound on the way home....there was a bat sleeping in one of the chambers which was a lovely surprise....
