....used the new tiller today....scattered some woodash over the bed first then set about it with new machine....it does such an incredible job....just amazing....it's not easy, as the bloody thing is constantly pulling away from you like a grumpy donkey....😂....I can sure feel it now, reckon I'm gonna be aching later....but it's probably the best prepared veg bed I've ever turned over....I'm not sure I could have done such a good job without it....it really is THAT good....big shout out (again) to my wife's father for the gift of such a great tool....👍
I'm thinking it's probably going to be an onion bed next year....
And the best bit about the whole job....the smell of my wife's cooking drifting up the hill as I was working....gonna be a lovely meal later....💚

....put some garlic bulbs on to sprout a couple of days ago....just balanced on a small glass of rainwater....

....day 3 of the garlic sprouting, the roots are doing really well and we now have some green shoots too....I've peeled the outer layers off to make it easier for the new shoots....

....the old corrugated roofing sheets are damp above my head....they are old, very old....before they were here, they were the roof of the old Whisky Bar for a few years, when we lived north of here, before that they were on a barn roof for thirty years, and when we re-roofed the barn, the roofing sheets were in the scrap pile until I reclaimed them, trimmed the rusty ends off and repurposed them for the Bar roof....when we took them off the barn I noticed holes in them where they had been used previous to this as well, holes from old fixings from a life before the barn roof....so I don't know exactly how old they are, but they are certainly older than me....
The water that fell as rain a few days ago, has been collected and then heated up in buckets on the fire from wood I've scavenged from the hedgerow....I put the hot water in an old bin around the back and a small pump sends it out of the showerhead and cascading over me....the steam makes the roof wet....I'm thinking about all the things that these roof panels have been before they were repurposed again into becoming the roof for my shower....it's probably the best shower I've ever had....
