Millions of people across Africa and South Asia came online for the first time in the past three months, with almost all of these new users accessing the #Internet solely via mobile devices.
- There are almost 4.2 billion internet users around the world in October 2018, up seven percent since this time last year.
- Around 3.4 billion people around the world used #SocialMedia in September 2018, up 10% since September 2017.
- More than 5.1 billion people now use a mobile phone, with most using a #smartphone.

While #Snapchat may lack #Facebook’s massive user numbers, its efforts to create an engaging app continue to show signs of success. While Facebook’s 69% stickiness still tops the list, Snapchat racks of a 43% stickiness rating, placing it comfortably ahead of larger competitors like #Google Hangouts (37% stickiness) and #Instagram (35% stickiness).

It took more than a decade, but #Twitter just turned a profit for the fourth quarter in a row. The company brought in $106 million on $758 million in revenue, which was better than expected.
Twitter also reported a loss of 9 million monthly active users, a decline it had prepared Wall Street for. The company has said this decline in MAUs is mostly due to its efforts to clean up the “health” of the service - aka bot crackdown.

This is up from 53% last year, 45% in 2016, 30% in 2015 and 20% in 2014, per the report.
#LinkedIn continues to be the most popular social platform for Fortune 500 companies, with virtually all (98%) using the platform this year, consistent with last year’s report.
#Twitter (91%) and #Facebook (89%) are also widely used by the Fortune 500. Each saw an incremental increase in usage, from 88% and 85%, respectively, last year.

While Fortnite certainly is Epic’s breakthrough game, the company has more to show for than the online survival hit. Aside from popular gaming franchises such as Gears of War and Infinity Blade, the company is best-known for the Unreal Engine, a tool kit for game developers that has played a major role in the industry for 20 years now.

#Instagram has been getting meaningful ad spend relative to #Facebook in recent months, and new data from Marin Software again indicates that it’s becoming a more important part of Facebook’s monetization strategy. In Q3, Marin indicates that its client advertisers spent 14.8% of their total Facebook spend on Instagram, more than double the proportion (6.5%) from a year earlier.
