π AR vs VR: the Engagement
In a recent research study conducted by GWI in the UK and U.S., it was found that over 90% of consumers in these markets are aware of VR, with around 65% saying theyβre aware of AR.
Awareness of AR hovers between the 70-75% mark among the 16-44 age group, but drops dramatically among 45-54s (56%) and 55-64s (44%). By gender, males (71%) display a notably higher level of awareness of AR compared to women (59%).
These awareness level figures stand in sharp contrast to the rate of consumers who are actually engaging with AR and VR on a monthly basis in the UK and U.S.

ββπ± Your Phone's Radiation
For most people nowadays, their #smartphone is within arm's reach 24 hours a day. It's in their pocket while they're at work, it's in their hand on the train ride home and it's on their bedside table as they go to sleep. With this level of proximity and usage, many can't quite shake the niggling feeling that they might be risking damage to themselves in the long run. While conclusive longitudinal research on the effects of cell phone radiation is still hard to come by, for those looking to hedge their bets, this infographic shows the phones that emit the most radiation when held to the ear while calling.
The German Federal Office for Radiation Protection (Bundesamt fΓΌr Strahlenschutz) has a comprehensive database of #smartphones - new and old - and the level of radiation they emit. Following the criteria set for this chart (see footnotes), the current smartphone creating the highest level of radiation is the Mi A1 from Chinese vendor Xiaomi. In fact, the top list is dominated by handsets made by Chinese companies, with #Xiaomi, #OnePlus, #Huawei and #ZTE accounting for 12 of the 15 phones with the largest values. It must be said though, that premium #Apple phones such as the #iPhone 7 and the recently released iPhone 8 are also here to be seen.

ββπΊ Netflix Tops Live TV As The Destination For Viewersβ Favorite Shows
Itβs the era of peak TV, and it looks like #Netflix is winning the content wars over traditional TV. In its latest annual Conquering Content study, Hub Entertainment Research finds that TV viewers are becoming pickier about the shows they try, and identify fewer shows as being among their favorites. But hereβs the rub: for the first time, those favourite shows are more likely to be found on Netflix than on live TV.
The study notes that video platforms continue to invest in scripted series, with 5% YoY growth as of August. However, there are stark differences among platforms, with streaming service providers boosting their original scripted series by 46% and premium cable providers by 42%, whereas basic cable and broadcast providers have cut back. (Last year, IHS Markit detailed a 2.3% compound annual decline in scripted hours in the US from broadcast network and cable over the previous 3 years, with online services instead soaring with a compound annual growth rate of 53% in scripted hours over that time span.)
