Only in their lowest moments would they find the will and their character would be tested.
And for the climactic ending: The good guys would come out on top like never before. If it wasn't for that punch to the gut in 2020, they wouldn't have been ready for the total victory coming.

Sometimes all we can do is rest in that place of silence and allow God to kill that part of us that feels that need to work our way out of a situation. Sometimes God just wants us to lay down instead of fighting. He wants us to lay down our will to Him. Through that He transforms us into something new.
Maybe it's not about what you should do and instead about how far you are willing to trust in the fog.
Perhaps God is working within your situation to create a cross designed to allow you to die to yourself.
Instead of fighting it, embrace what God is doing.
When it comes to letting God kill your will, there is no comfortable way through it. But when you struggle and wrestle against it, you make it just a little harder with each movement.
It's OK to give your heart over to God right now.
It's OK to trust when all around you seems dark.
There is no where you can go where God will not be with you.
