Good morning

Surely, morn will come,
And darkness will lose its glow.

The sun will rise, plum,
And weak will be the shadows.

The birds will sing—a custom,
And my dirge will bow—a foe.
To raindrops like drums,
I will jive, bop and mambo!
For fear will succumb,
When the cock finally crows.

Good Morning

Surely, morn will come,

The sun will rise, plum,

The birds will sing—a custom,

For fear will succumb,
when the cock finally crows;
Ye, when the sky cracks open.

I need your opinion on this:

*Should the last line of the second stanza stay or go?

*Would it be better as a one stanza poem with only 10 lines (assuming I remove that last line )
The Deal: A tale of betrayal

Part 1

Nadia yawns loudly stretching her arms and legs to the point that they make a cracking sound, her mouth stretches wide open to her ears despite her valiant efforts to not yawn. It's three in the night and it’s deadly silent all around. The summer is at its peak and the atmosphere is humid. The fans moving with crackling noise due to jammed bearings allow only a little relief from the heat, there's no breeze outside to soothe the itching heat but the sky is clear and twinkling, a partial relief to sleepy eyes. Nadia looks with tired eyes towards the clock, checking it every five minutes. It's hard to remain awake when you think about staying awake way too much. She rubs her eyes digging the heel of her palm into them so hard that she could see stars for a few moments.

Finally, she decides after almost dozing off twice in her seat that it would be better if she just walks around a little. She leaves her place; the staff room looks ten times bigger to her in the night than in the day. It is not exactly a room, it’s just a partition made in the equipment room with chairs and lockers to complete the feel of the staff room. The chairs are all cleanly lined up, the lockers closed down. No chattering or gossiping, no catfights, everything is agonizingly silent; she misses day time.

This is her first turn for night duty, one of the night staff is on leave and she has to work in her place. Since everyone else in the night shift know what their jobs are and Nadia is only an extra for an emergency she does not know what to do with herself. The night staff isn’t even acknowledging her presence. And now that Nadia has done this shift she is satisfied enough to never do it again. The place looks like a haunted house in the night. No activity, no work, just anticipation that there could be something that would happen but nothing does. Every sound is amplified a thousand times ricocheting in the deafening silence.

Nadia paces outside the staff room but even that doesn't help her much, she needed a change of place urgently before her system shuts down and she falls asleep of boredom. Ultimately she decides that she needs a coffee and she should also go around and have a look at the patients. After slurping the coffee almost in one breath she starts checking up the patients one by one, all of whose name she knew by heart. First, she checks if the gates are all locked well, she remembers someone once left a gate unlocked and the patient ran off only to be met by an accident. That cost the patient her life and the reputation of the Institution was deeply hurt. Then she checks if everyone is in their bed or not. Every room has similar furniture, a narrow bed, only wide enough for someone to lay on their back, a chair and a table, a cupboard to keep their belonging, a side lamp to keep the room dimly lit all night so that it won’t be too dark and the white-colored walls most of which have taken an off-white shade with time. The windows are small and iron grill is firmly placed on each of them so that no one could use it to enter or exit their rooms. The corridors themselves are the same color with the only exception of color for stair and exit signs. The gates are all marked with the patient numbers in blue colored plates with numbers written in white.

The Deal: A tale of betrayal

Part 2

Nadia joined the "Grand Health Institution of Psychological Maladies" around six months ago as a nurse and since then she has worked hard with every single patient she has served. She watches them through the locked gates, all asleep and at peace. Nadia has been given the duty to look after the patients of floor one and two in the Institution and the last room on the second floor belonged to her favorite one, Raquel. Although she also feels bad for her at the same time she has quite an affection towards her.

Raquel has always struck as unfit for this institution to Nadia. Whenever Raquel was conversing with her there was no way in the world Nadia could tell that she was one of the patients here. Matter of fact, Raquel was always logical, sharp, and intelligent. If anyone has more knowledge about the mental health of the patients in the Institution than doctors here, it was her as she was a psychologist at some point of time herself. As to how Raquel ended here Nadia didn’t know and perhaps there was something inside Nadia that told her to not even try to know.

Raquel sits in her bed, her back against the wall, embracing her knees as if to protect herself from extreme cold. Her eyes are focused on the wall of her room, watchful, like a person looking at a snake when it has come eye to eye with it. Her breath has left her as fear constricts her lungs and her throat is dry, her hands and legs feel cold, frozen from the terror.

"Go away!" she says in a trembling voice, fear so deeply carved into her that it seems like it could not be effaced even with the tides of time. The fiendish woman in front of her smiles at her, her wickedly twisted smile making Raquel even more uncomfortable. Leave me alone you ugly witch, Raquel muses but couldn't speak loud enough for anyone to hear. She feels like tearing up, the pressure inside her chest deepens from grief and prospect of the pain.

Nadia finishes up looking up at everyone with only Raquel as an exception. Out of everyone else, Raquel was the most organized, her bedtime, food time, medicine time, or exercise time everything was fixed and Raquel followed that schedule religiously. Nadia knew that Raquel listens to audiobooks before she went to bed, sometimes Nadia herself read to her articles on the brain which she would nod to sometimes in understanding and at others in amazement. After listening to the audiobooks she always went to sleep so right now she would be sound asleep. Completing the long walk of corridor Nadia finally ends her round on Raquel’s room, feeling thoroughly refreshed and ready to go back to the staff room. But when she peeks into Raquel's room she is surprised by the sight of Raquel sitting in her bed.

The ghoulish women notice Nadia and halt, delaying Raquel's fate for a few minutes. Seeing that Raquel is still up at this hour Nadia unlocks the door to her room and walks in. She expected Raquel to move at the sound of the door opening but is surprised by the fact that she didn’t. She gives Raquel a long look expecting her to say something any minute but when no reaction comes she moves closer.

The Deal: A tale of betrayal

Part 3

Sensing that someone was in the corridor Raquel holds her breath. No one can save her but anyone could be harmed if they come here at this time, so she hides her face in her knees and pretends to be asleep. She hears Nadia asking her if she was ok but she keeps her lips tightly shut and her face buried in her knees.

"Why are you up this late dear?" Nadia asks her gently, Raquel neither reply nor moves. "Are you ok?" She asks but Raquel doesn't reply. Assuming that Raquel has fallen asleep in this position Nadia looks around in the room purposelessly and then quietly leaves so that Raquel's sleep won't be disturbed, closing the door to her room and locking it ever so silently. As soon as Nadia leaves Raquel's trembling begins, she knows what was coming next, the anticipation of pain prickles her joints, her nerves tingle; fear deeper than ocean drowns her. "I don't want to see you," Raquel says to the ghastly creature, now closing in on her.

"You are accursed to see only me all your life" the woman replies, her voice chilling Raquel to her bones, her ears pulsate as the voice worse than nails scratching on blackboard violates them. "Please no!" Raquel begs but that wasn't going to help her, it never had and she knew it never will. The only option that is left with her is to accept what is coming next and she does so without resistance.

The lights go out all across the Institution making Nadia jump in her place, she isn’t very fond of the dark since her childhood. Strangely enough, after the lights go off she could hear more people conversing then she did before which made her feel a bit better. Someone checks the power supply, the electricians are called but no one could understand what's wrong with the supply. Blown fuse? someone wonders loudly. But all this hyperactivity and conversation seemed to worry Nadia about her patients as the light out could put distress on some of them. So she takes a flashlight and runs to check up on them again, to her relief everyone is still fast asleep, some of them snoring, others muttering something illegible in their sleep, she takes a sigh of relief. Finally, she reaches Raquel's room, the patient who would be least affected by light out, after all, how can someone who doesn't have light in their eyes be bothered by light out at all? It’s lights-out for a blind woman all the time, she thinks, and then she smacks herself lightly on her head for being so indignant about it even in her thoughts.

Nadia raises her flashlight assuming that Raquel would be sitting in the same position as she was some time ago, but there's something wrong, she couldn't bring herself to cast the flashlight in her room. A sense of horror, some weird reluctance has seeped inside her body almost resisting her commands to look into Raquel's room. She breaks into cold sweat suddenly, feeling like all the air has been replaced with sawdust. She reconsiders whether she wants to look into Raquel's room, her fear of darkness slowly creeping over her being. But her mind reminds her of her duty and the fact that she has checked all the other rooms then why not her? Nadia stands there for a while, her thoughts see-sawing between running with her legs on her head or performing her duty, the nerves in her legs and back taut with tension.

In the end reasoning of her mind overcomes the fear of her heart. And yet her body trembles with fear of an unknown scene, something that she fears she would see but at the same time finds it impossible to perceive. She purses her lips and takes a deep breath and tells herself to look inside at the count of three. The first glimpse into Raquel's room sends Nadia into shivers like she never had before, her legs paralyze, she drops the flashlight as if it were something hot in her hand. And then she lets out a long terrifying scream before passing out.

So why was I not there to kiss you back from the edge? Why was I not able to save you like once you tried to save me?

So I wanted to describe the soul and state of mind and wanted to know if it can create a blur of what my character might look without using physical description .
This is like one of my female characters describing someone

I couldn't describe what he was like . First time I saw him I couldn't take my eyes of his wide smile and all through these years I had known him there was not even a need to frame his picture in my mind to describe him , His face was lit with a bright smile everytime I saw him , His eyes talked even if his voice was shut , From the first day he walked into my life with his damm worthy jokes , his heart was crystal clear acted as a mirror reflecting every emotion he felt on his face. Eyes so deep where I could slumber forever .

How to write a Haiku

I wanted to write a Haiku
So I was told I had to
Use a three line structure
With 17 moras for spectre
So I began mora mora moru...

This how we write a haiku
With elegant moras in situ
But when I looked back
I realised I'd been slack
and way below par

So it was back to the drawing
board
I took a deep breath,
ventured out to nature
Then I began to Haiku

"trees in the distance
the acacia tortilis
dancing in the wind"

LIVING IN PLAIN VISION

Sucks my hope,
when I fall in depression
with zero vision, I am travelling
alike a blind human walking on thorns.
The birds chirps, the air gives freshness
but for me, the mood is living in darkness.
Here no light, no true smile,
just living in shades of death.
The path I am crawling has gone dry
and, made me cry in gallons
but still expecting someone to raise me up
and donate hope.
Still, it's an expectation that might
give hope or leave me forever here.

Author's Note: The below poem came from a conversation we had.

@Haniju1129 : Let's do conversation in the circle with rhyme and we will frame it into a poem .So are you guys ready?
Me: Ok we should try!
Anonymous : Let's do it..

And so that's how we finally came up with this poem. Incomplete, with just a few points. Hope you like it!😅

A Busy Day

That smell is fowl,
coming from my bowl,
i wish to rock and roll,
and we will drop the party ball.

We will dance till we fall,
i am watching the super bowl,
It was fun to play ball,
especially when you catch the ball and fall.

Now I grew so tall,
I grew taller than a pole,
still playing in the stadium hall,
and practising throwing ball on the wall.

I miss the days when i used to fall,
but now i am in a wooden hall,
this place feels like a mall
and full of interesting stall.

Wait, where's the toy store,
coz I need a souvenir doll,
to gift my internet troll,
and hand out all night like an owl.

Now I am sitting on a rock,
in the navy dock,
with his noisy rooster cock,
it is as white as a chalk,
and it feels like it is full of talk.

Wait, my best friend just came LOL,
he is a funny troll,
ready to strike tall,
and my rooster is playing with the ball after it went prone.

We both can hear the rooster growl,
while choking on our baseball,
till it feels lost,
and now it threw it out like a lollipop.

We were chilling to hip-hop,
then I bounced on my way back home,
the roads felt like Rome,
with all the shiny dome.

Alas, it bottled down to charging my phone,
keeping it above the drawer,
and I fell asleep all alone...

The End.....

INTOXICATED

There was a time when he would have simply smiled back and went about his way. Maybe the chivalry was what made them smile at him in the first place. But those days are long gone, and that character is long lost. Today, he stares. Longingly and repulsively. All the anguish but having merely numbed him to the cold-shoulders and snubs. From gallant gentleness, to perverse persistence, he still picks the wrong battles.

MUSING ALONE
I sat there with my legs suspended deep into waters.
My eyes moving along the rushing river.
Sun started to sink in its hues, the moaning river can not fathom my restless soul and my phantom state of mind.
River gliding swiftly on my toes, I stand there musing alone.
Slowly the sky started to turn grey,
surging through me ,
swelling my longings in its vague eternity.
The grey and the glee parted ways but the rivers still reflected its golden rays.

Diabolic

What they say and what they actually do,
Deceit of loving, they make her feel unloved.
How they whisper sweet nothings in her ear and whistle loud on her back,
It is the only living curse to the dead that nothing said or done is sacred anymore and that is a diabolic truth she was unaware of.
Out she stands feeling like a ghost, she is almost dead.

Title- Love at First Sight

Somewhere in the room full of people and colors
Their eyes met and they saw each other's heart
Somewhere in his ravishing approach
Her senses trembled
Somewhere in his astonishing voice
Her nervous system died
Somewhere butterflies aroused by his touch
Somewhere her smile ensured the trust
Barely knowing each other
Somewhere their hearts melted beneath the ice
Their eyes captured each other's souls
Somewhere they knew it was love at first sight.

Author's note: This is an impromptu post.
There was a boy looking for greener pasture and sweet meat. He Searched the continents and tour many roads.. He Looked death in the eyes, all done without a scare.

There's a saying that says you can sell your soul to the devil. But what is devil if not the things we want but doesn't have. Nothing hurts a man than not being there are many walking dead we can see among the living.

Animals can go days without food but leave a man without shelter and he'll froze..
Unforeseen circumstances, emotional tragedies can affect the ways of a man.. You start to ask yourself questions about who you really stand for and just like that, the purpose of existence start to seem unclear..
