But it didn't bring enough shine, so the Son came down

We were chilling in my room yesterday night telling stories about how our moms would punish us when we were little. Jack was quiet the whole time when he suddenly surprised us with his experience.
"Jock, my mom has only caned me three times,"he said. We all looked at him surprised since it was impossible to recall the number of times an African mother caned her child.
"Did grow up paradise before veing dropped on earth?" Sherry asked sarcastically.
"No," he said quietly.
"Then how comes your mom has punished you very few times?" I asked him still surprised.
"Those three times are the only times my mom caned me. The rest of the punishment sessions must have been attempted murders,"he said proudly looking satisfied with his statement. We looked at each other for a few seconds before bursting into laughter. He had made our day.

As soon as he unplugged his phone from the charging port a notification from YouTube arrived. Plugging his earphone to watch the video he thought, ‘This will give the motivation I need to complete my work!’ His phone was still heating but at very less intensity as compared to half an hour before when he was playing games even while charging. He had some pending assignments to complete from which he had taken a break of 10 minutes which eventually lasted more than an hour. Since the deadline of those assignments was very far, he felt free to do it anytime soon but not at that moment. Well he was working on it when his phone gave him a warning about its temperature and so he had to put it down. But he was back at it again, though he was now watching the video, which he thinks was going to motivate him, and not playing games.

*Beep*
Just when the video ends, another notification arrives. It reads ‘It’s time to claim your reward and beat the enemies before they beat you!’ He opened the game as soon as he got the notification and lost in playing it.
Title of the video was: ‘Stop wasting your time and start utilising it!’

I left his home like I left my solace and heading for despair. News struck me. The damage is done inside. I was in survival mode. Hardly breathing. I knew i wasnt courageous enough to end it. He was my life line. This was my only chance. I have to either move forward like a living dead.. or run back to him and live in pain of being the last option for him. But isnt pain good. Atleast pain meant i was alive and being human? Was life without any sensation worth?
