Here's a poem called Children of the Sun, by Fenton Johnson
We are children of the sun,
Rising sun!
Weaving Southern destiny,
Waiting for the mighty hour
When our Shiloh shall appear
With the flaming sword of right,
With the steel of brotherhood,
And emboss in crimson die
Liberty! Fraternity!
We are the star-dust folk,
Striving folk!
Sorrow songs have lulled to rest;
Seething passions wrought through wrongs,
Led us where the moon rays dip
In the night of dull despair,
Showed us where the star gleams shine,
And the mystic symbols glow—
Liberty! Fraternity!
We have come through cloud and mist,
Mighty men!
Dusk has kissed our sleep-born eyes,
Reared for us a mystic throne
In the splendor of the skies,
That shall always be for us,
Children of the Nazarene,
Children who shall ever sing
Liberty! Fraternity!
We are children of the sun,
Rising sun!
Weaving Southern destiny,
Waiting for the mighty hour
When our Shiloh shall appear
With the flaming sword of right,
With the steel of brotherhood,
And emboss in crimson die
Liberty! Fraternity!
We are the star-dust folk,
Striving folk!
Sorrow songs have lulled to rest;
Seething passions wrought through wrongs,
Led us where the moon rays dip
In the night of dull despair,
Showed us where the star gleams shine,
And the mystic symbols glow—
Liberty! Fraternity!
We have come through cloud and mist,
Mighty men!
Dusk has kissed our sleep-born eyes,
Reared for us a mystic throne
In the splendor of the skies,
That shall always be for us,
Children of the Nazarene,
Children who shall ever sing
Liberty! Fraternity!
"Ideas are cheap. I have more ideas now that I could ever write up. To my mind, it's execution that is all important." ~ George R. R. Martin
I'm standing in a line at Starbucks and this guy comes up to me and says,"Hey," there's a slight hesitation in his voice."I'm Zack. You don't know me... but uhh... can I talk to you for a bit?" He motions towards a table.
"Ummm..."
He has this genuinely sincere look on his face which gives my feet their own brain and they walk with him to the table. We sit opposite each other.
"So," he starts, "What's your name?"
"Alice."
He extends his hand towards me to shake, "Hi, Alice."
I take his hand in mine and give a firm, quick shake. But when I start to pull back he doesn't let go. He is looking at my hair. Then his eyes travel to my eyes, then to my nose and finally rests on my lips. He's blatantly checking me out and not even being subtle about it. It's a little creepy. A little, because he's gorgeous. With wavy black hair and smoldering chocolate brown eyes. And what girl doesn't like being stared at by gorgeous guys.
"So..." I give a small, nervous laugh.
"So," he repeats. He still hasn't let go off of my hand.
"I love you," he says very slowly.
I think I heard him wrong."Wait....wh-what?" I stutter. "What did you just say?"
"I said, I love you." Now my hand is covered between both of his. "I know it sounds crazy but I do. I saw you standing there and I knew. I love you."
I'm speechless. Shocked. Dumbfounded. Surprised. And a lot more adjectives I can't think of right now.
"Stop saying that! We literally just met. What is wrong with you. You don't go around picking random women and saying you love them. You're insane."
"I've never done this before. You're the first. You're the one."
I laugh out loud at that. "I'm 'The One'? You're really insane. Who talks like that!"
"I do. I talk like this all the time," he says seriously.
"And you don't even know me. How do you know you love me?"
He moves my hand and presses it against his chest where I can feel his heart beating furiously. "Because my heart never did this before."

Ode to silliness
================
The King in Yellow?
I'm as surprised as you!
Oh, my good fellow,
Clinton this day will rue!
We'll make the USA
Great again!
The liberals that bray
Deserve only disdain
Grab that pussy!
We'll slap her in jail!
We'll show that hussy!
We'll make her wail!
But, I was thinking...
What if we are wrong?
And aboard a ship that's sinking?

Strangers Again
Once, on a day,
through the life's way.
You meet one, strangeR,
and they become your life changer.
Doing every possible thing,
to get attached by the string.
Either it's running miles,
or even by faking smiles.
StrangeRs become friends,
over & over like trends.
Sharing every laugh,
even the fears & tears, in half.
So one day, you feel,
being more than friends.
So some way, you steal..
heart, being more than trends.
You'll never realize,
the miracles you did.
To make them ever realize,
just happy, all you did.
Hugging, Kissing, cuddling,
time keeps flying away.
Later it's puddling or muddling,
life keeps changing away.
Once, on a day,
it becomes a blame game.
somehow or someway,
relationship becomes a lame name.
Taking each other for granted,
or with time you're changing.
feelings aren't strong as planted,
because someone stopped trying.
Over & over once on a day,
tolerance is now enough.
It just happens this way,
its impossible & is now tough.
Someone who you liked the most,
is someone now, hated the most.
you move on with a life changer,
again just like being the strangeR.
Left with memories,
with some faded times.
Love notes & gestures,
& voices like some faded chimes.
Desperation becomes separation.
Importance becomes ignorance.
Try hard, keep them away from their pain,
before you become strangeRs again.
Once, every day,
remember how you started.
Try your best every way,
Just the way, how you started.

Death, fuck off
===============
Death, could you kindly fuck off?
You and the horse you rode on
My mouth fills with blood as I cough
But I'll hate you until I'm gone
You are what makes life horrifying
You are what ruins every waking moment
You are the source of all this crying
You are what every ugliness foment
And people suffer from a queer syndrome
That makes them think you are a godsend
What's it's name? Oh, right, Stockholm!
They are trapped, but otherwise pretend
"It's not too bad, think of how boring
It would be to live forever and ever."
Excuse me? Boredom? What about exploring?
Reading, writing, finding the biggest lever?
To move the mountains, or why not, Earth
In infinite time, you could do this and more
You could have infinite joy, infinite mirth
Do all the things you absolutely adore
Wouldn't that be nice? If we could do that?
But first, we'd need to put our difference aside
We are all humans - short, tall, thin, fat
Race, gender, sexuality - we are on the same ride
Every person is equal, of equal worth
Nobody deserves to suffer, or die
Unequality, racism - give it a wide berth
Stand tall, be proud, for its end is nigh
The universe is uncaring, with no rhyme nor reason
But it doesn't mean we shouldn't build our own
Make the world better, make our hope a beacon
Let's work together, let's this lunacy dethrone!
We can do it. And even if we can't?
We'd have made the universe a better place
And with this, I conclude my rant.
Eyes looking up, towards space.
