This is true, although I'd add that even on the family level, a disproportionate level of resources (time and money) are spent on children with disabilities, at the cost of normal, healthy, happy children.

The issue with the moral framing of abortion is that the mainstream justification for it frames the issue as being "a woman's choice." This framing, which is centered on an individualistic egoism, is clearly a repulsive premise. The only correct moral framing of abortion is that of its consequences to society, and weather the community's best interest are served. In the case above, it is quite clear that society's interests would be best served by allowing this woman an abortion, given the inviable fetus, potential cost to the community for healthcare if the fetus were carried to term, and the mental toll to the mother and family. The moral framing of the anti-abortion absolutist position is equally reprehensible, as is maximizes unnecessary pain and suffering to the mother, fetus, and community.

Just remember you made those rules, when the other foot.
