What exactly is a prime number
A prime number is a whole number greater than one that has exactly two factors. Those two factors are one and the number itself. This definition is found across many school curriculums. Examples include 2, 3, 5, 7, 11 and 13.
If a number has more than two factors, it is not prime. A number like 12 can be divided by 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12. This makes it a composite number.
