On this day in 1745 the Battle of Prestonpans, also known as the Battle of Gladsmuir, took place near Prestonpans, in East Lothian, the first significant engagement of the Jacobite rising of 1745.

Jacobite forces, led by the Stuart exile Charles Edward Stuart, defeated a government army under Sir John Cope, whose inexperienced troops broke in the face of a Highland charge. The battle lasted less than thirty minutes, was a huge boost to Jacobite morale and established the revolt as a serious threat to the British government.

Yet again Sturgeons love of virtue signaling, self promotion and immigrants over her own people is leaving the indigenous population of Scotland disadvantaged.

Her policy to bring 10,000's of refugees to Scotland is meaning that her much trumpeted policy to end homelessness in Scotland is going to fail.

The refugee scheme is underfunded and undermanned meaning that it is eating into resources that should be helping our people.

Yeah again we are seeing the SNP are incompetent and happy to break promises . With winter approaching many of our people are going to be left on the streets or in substandard B&B accomidation because of Sturgeon.

She needs to go and Scotland needs an alternative to the present political mess. If you care about your country and our people ,it's time to stand up and start working to create that change . Only Patriotic Alternative can do that and provide a real Nationalist Alternative for our people.

Be part of the change, message us at scotland@patrioticalternative.org.uk

Refuweege is a group that works with refugees in the Glasgow area.

This year they put out an ongoing appeal for children's buggies. The interesting and worrying thing is that they don't want just any buggies but only double buggies.

This alone should give you an insight as to where demographics in Scotland are going. Most White women in Scotland have a maximum of two children, many have one and a significant proportion none.

Amongst the refugee community the number is far higher. Many have 3, 4 or even 5 children and it is unheard of for them to have none.

With the number of refugees constantly increasing, it is easy to see where the numbers will go unless two things happen.

One, the number of refugees needs to be cut dramatically; and two, the number of White children being born needs to rise significantly.

Both will not happen under an administration run by any of the mainstream parties.

Scotland needs an alternative: a Patriotic Alternative.

Scotland has hit a first in British rugby but unfortunately it's not a good one and can be rather dangerous for some of the players involved.

Scottish Rugby is the only rugby organisation in the UK not to pass a rule saying that only women born as women can play against other women. They have been consulting on it for a year but have made no decision, probably due to the fear of upsetting the rabid pro-trans lobby.

Two male-bodied trans women are actively involved in Scottish women's rugby and, to make matters worse, there is a ban on letting female players know that they will be playing against a male-bodied so-called trans woman. So female players do not even have the opportunity to opt out of the game on safety grounds.

Unless the rules are changed a woman is eventually going get seriously injured in a game that already has many risks.

It's time that Scottish Rugby were lobbied by all with an interest in the sport - and in women's rights - to change the rules now.

An Edinburgh homeless charity is seeing four times as many people accessing its services now than a year ago.

The indigenous population of Scotland are sliding further into poverty and the Scottish Government is doing nothing to arrest the slide.

At the same time as Scottish charities are being overwhelmed and receiving no state help, the Scottish Government has just announced that it is going to provide another Β£50 million in funding for Ukrainian refugees.

While it is easy to sympathise with European people fleeing conflict, this is money that should be going to address the needs of the indigenous population.

The Scottish Government and the other political parties in Holyrood are more concerned with incomers' needs than those of our people.

The present system is not working for our people and needs change. Put our people first.

We are fighting for our people and to change the system. Will you stand up and play your part?

On this day in 1332 Edward Balliol was crowned at Scone. This left Scotland in the odd situation of having two kings, the other being the 9 year old King David II who had be crowned after the death of his father Robert I in 1329.

Balliol's reign was short as three months later he was forced to flee back to England, following a surprise attack by nobles loyal to David II at the Battle of Annan.

In early 1333, Edward III openly declared his support for Balliol as king. Balliol returned to Scotland with Edward and an English army in the summer, Capturing Berwick and defeating the Scottish forces at the Battle of Halidon Hill. Balliol, under the Treaty of Newcastle (1334), then ceded the whole of the district formerly known as Lothian to Edward and paid homage to him as liege lord. but Balliol of once again forced to flee Scotland soon after.

On 30 November 1335, a pro-Balliol army under the command of Strathbogie was defeated at the Battle of Culblean, this was the end of Balliols attempts to take the crown.

Historic Environment Scotland is joining the culture war. They are the latest public body to try to force staff to use gender neutral terms when talking to the public and to apologise if they get pronouns wrong.

Gone is "ladies and gentlemen", replaced with "folks" or "everyone"; no more will there be "mum and dad", instead they will be addressed as just "adults"; and "families" are now "buddies" and "grown-ups". Him/her and she/he are changed to they/their/we/our and phrases including son or daughter are altered to children instead.

This is ridiculous and just makes the customer-facing staff's jobs far harder as they try to second-guess people.

Why are we pandering yet again to a small portion of society? Our whole society is being changed for the wants of a minority and the majority need to stand up and say it has gone far enough.

Patriotic Alternative Scotland will continue to fight for common sense and the rights of the majority of the population.

On this day in the first transatlantic submarine telephone cable called TAT-1 (Transatlantic No. 1) was inaugurated. It was laid between Oban, Scotland and Clarenville, Newfoundland. Two cables were laid between 1955 and 1956 with one cable for each direction. The cable was able to carry 35 simultaneous telephone calls. A 36th channel was used to carry up to 22 telegraph lines.

The project was a joint one between the General Post Office of the UK, the American Telephone and Telegraph company, and the Canadian Overseas Telecommunications Corporation. The share split in the scheme was 40% British, 50% American, and 10% Canadian. The total cost was about Β£120 million.

Three hardy activists from the north east of Scotland met up this morning for a double helping of duty and effort.

After rattling off approx. 150 leaflets in the local area, the team took to the beach for a thrashing on the sand, mixing cardio and weights.

No pub afterwards for a "well earned pint," just a main course of delivering leaflets and some sweat, sand and hard graft for dessert.

These gentlemen are playing their part, are you?

Today our Lothian Branch visited the village of Ratho, to the west of Edinburgh, distributing nearly 600 leaflets.

The feedback from the public was very positive, with one older lady inviting our lads in for a coffee.

On this day in 1290 Margaret, known as the Maid of Norway, died at the age of 7 in Orkney.

Margaret was Queen-Designate of Scotland from 1286 until her death. As she was never inaugurated, her status as monarch is uncertain and has been debated by historians.

Margaret was the daughter of King Eric II of Norway and Margaret of Scotland. By the end of the reign of her maternal grandfather, King Alexander III of Scotland, she was his only surviving descendant and recognized heir presumptive. Alexander III died in 1286, his posthumous child was stillborn, and Margaret inherited the crown. Owing to her young age, she remained in Norway rather than going to Scotland. Her father and the Scottish leaders negotiated her marriage to Edward of Caernarfon, son of King Edward I of England. She was finally sent to Great Britain in September 1290, but died in Orkney, sparking off the succession dispute between thirteen competitors for the crown of Scotland.

Scottish universities are facing a funding crisis and it's all down to a short-sighted reliance on foreign students.

The universities are seeing reduced funding in the future from the Scottish Government. They have become heavily reliant on the higher fees payed by foreign students - at the expense of places for the indigenous population at top universities, it must be noted.

It appears that this could lead to a crisis as universities struggle to maintain their high standards due to a lack of public investment, meaning they are less attractive to foreign students; and as global tensions are rising it could mean fewer foreign students in the future

The short-sighted idea of relying on foreigners is also reflected in the Scottish Government's attitude to worker shortages and potential population decline in our nation. The main parties' idea is to rely on immigration to solve these issues - another plan that is destined to cause disaster, just as it might for higher education.
