On this day in 1688, one of the worst anti-Catholic riots in Scottish history started in Edinburgh. It became know as the Holyrood Riot.
James VII had proclaimed tolerance of religion, especially his own Roman Catholicism which led him to establish a Jesuit academy in the Palace of Holyroodhouse in 1686.
James went into exile in France but to make sure he went, the Edinburgh Mob gathered on December 9 and 10, 1688, determined that the so-called “Jesuit threat” of Roman Catholicism would not return to Scotland.
On December 9, a mob began to gather and the following morning the Town Council rushed out a proclamation ordering children and servants to stay indoors. On the 10th the mob set about attacking Catholics and the Abbey.
Remarkably, we have an eye-witness account of the events in Edinburgh that day, preserved in the National Library of Scotland, produced by Alexander Adamson, then a divinity student and one of the rioters.

On this day in 1928 the world renowned Scottish architect and artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh died in London.
His artistic approach had much in common with European Symbolism. His work, alongside that of his wife Margaret Macdonald, was influential on European design movements such as Art Nouveau and Secessionism and praised by great modernists such as Josef Hoffmann. Mackintosh was born in Glasgow and died in London. He is among the most important figures of Modern Style (British Art Nouveau style).

Scotland looks to be heading for another COVID crackdown if Sturgeon has her way.
The fearmongering has started and there is already talk of the possibility of "further measures" being required.
Do we want to live in a country where we have to live with the fear of more government restrictions hanging over us every few months? Maybe it is time for people to stand up and say that we won't take any more restrictions put upon as at the whim of our political overlords. With talk of years more of COVID variants ahead of us, it's time we just said life has to go back to as close to normal as possible and further restrictions are not an option.
We are we told we live in a 'free country', so let the people decide how they want to live and deal with COVID, not have restrictions and diktats about how to live their lives forced on them from above.

On this day in 1781 Sir David Brewster was born in Jedburgh. Brewster was a Scientist and inventor. He is another example of example of how much Scotland has contributed to the world of science.
He is principally remembered for his experimental work in physical optics, mostly concerned with the study of the polarization of light and including the discovery of Brewster's angle. He studied the birefringence of crystals under compression and discovered photoelasticity thereby creating the field of optical mineralogy. For this work, William Whewell dubbed him the "father of modern experimental optics" and "the Johannes Kepler of optics."
A pioneer in photography, Brewster invented an improved stereoscope, which he called "lenticular stereoscope" and which became the first portable 3D-viewing device. He also invented the binocular camera, two types of polarimeters, the polyzonal lens, the lighthouse illuminator, and the kaleidoscope.

The woke mob knows no mercy. It doesn't matter if you are an acclaimed artist and have been previously feted for your support for diversity. When you hurt their "feelings" they are out for blood.
Rosie Kay is a celebrated choreographer. She started her own dance company in 2004. She invited the dancers from a new production she was doing of her interpretation of Romeo and Juliet to her house for a dinner. Some of the dancers it seems identified as "non-binary". Kay said later on in the evening that in her view sex was set and that women were losing rights to men who identify as women. A reasonable statement and one that you would be free to make in your own home.
Of course the woke did not see it this way and complained to the board of the dance company about Kay. Surely not a fair action given that the discussion happened in a private house and not on work time. The board then launched a enquiry. Kay apologised but of course this was not enough and her resignation from her own dance company was forced.

PA Scotland took a team to Dundee today for the anti lockdown / anti vaccine passport demonstration in the city.
A huge group of people attended the gathering and marched through the main shopping centres and passed the Vaccination Centre, to voice their objection to the possible 'vaccine passports' that our government seem very keen to push onto the people. The message was clear from the march "No Vaccine Passports!"
PA Scotland activists handed out leaflets and chatted to many people who have a similar attitude towards this government overreach. With strength in numbers, people felt confident enough to voice their true feelings on this matter.

On this day in 1939 the HMS Duchess disaster occurred 9 miles off the Mull of Kintyre.
The HMS Duchess, a D-class destroyer, which was returning from a posting in the Far East was heading back to the port of Greenock on the west coast of Scotland. It and two other destroyers were assigned to escort the battleship HMS Barham from Gibraltar to Scotland.
They flotilla was only an hour away from Greenock on a moonless night in heavy fog. When at about 4am the Battleship HMS Barham ran into the HMS Duchess amidships, turning her turtle. HMS Duchess sank with such speed that most of her crew were trapped down below including her commanding officer who was trapped in his sea cabin.
As the ship went down her boilers exploded, setting off the ship's depth charges. In all over 136 lives were lost on HMS Duchess. Her wreck is still off the Mull of Kintyre to this day.

On this day in 1542 James V died at Falkland Palace in Fife. His death was possibly caused by cholera.
James had three children but only one survived him. That child was Mary Stuart, who became know as Mary Queen of Scots. Mary was born on the 8th of December and was only 6 days old when her father died and she became Queen of Scotland.
James was buried at Holyrood Abbey alongside his first wife Madeleine and his two sons in January 1543. David Lindsay supervised the construction of his tomb. One of his French artists, Andrew Mansioun, carved a lion and an inscription in Roman letters measuring eighteen feet. The tomb was destroyed in the sixteenth century, according to William Drummond of Hawthornden as early as 1544, by the English during the burning of Edinburgh. Scotland was ruled by Regent Arran and was soon drawn into the war of the Rough Wooing.

It's racist to shop at a black business for the sole reason that the owner is black. It's a judgement based on skin-colour alone. So why is this allowed?
Because racism is acceptable in the current status quo, provided it is anti-white.
When PA has suggested purchasing British made goods whenever possible, we were lambasted as "racists", but the system we live in is racist, against white people. Every group is allowed to stand up for their own interests, except us.
PA reject this hypocritical anti-white paradigm. It's okay to be white. It's okay to help your people by buying their goods. Join us if you agree.

It appears that once again the Scottish establishment has closed ranks to protect one of its own.
A top male coach in Scottish athletics was reported to Athletics Scotland by some young female athletes for sex abuse including inappropriate comments and touching them in a sexual manner while giving them sports massage.
Athletics Scotland did discipline and discharge the coach, but surprisingly they did not report him to the police. It appears that they don't have to. So the coach walked away effectively scot-free, so to say.
We are seeing this more and more in Scotland: quangos and politicians protecting each other from the consequences of their actions. In many cases either their criminal actions are covered up or people are quietly let go, sometimes with large payoffs and pensions. In the new Scotland, where we are all equal and justice rules (or so we are told), the rules only apply to some.
The public service and political elite in Scotland are corrupt and Scotland desperately needs a change.

On this day in 1911 Thomas Blake Glover died in Tokyo. Glover was a Scottish merchant in the Bakumatsu and Meiji period in Japan. Scotland has always had a large influence on the world far greater than is acknowledged.
Thomas Blake Glover was born at 15 Commerce Street, Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire in northeast Scotland on 6 June 1838. In 1857 he moved to Shanghai and then in 1859 to Nagasaki, where he was involved in the tea trade. He formed his own company in 1861. His home in Nagasaki still exists and is the oldest western style building in Japan . It is a visitor attraction attracting 2 million visitors a year.
Glover brought the first trains and cars to Japan and was also responsible for commissoning the first warships of the imperial navy at Scottish shipyards. Other innovations he was involved in Japan were developing the first coal mine. He helped to found a shipbuilding company that went on to become the Mitsubishi corporation. He also helped found what was to become the Kirin brewery

Scotland looks as if it could be heading for a further lockdown, something Sturgeon had promised would never happen.
But with her telling people to stay at home as much as possible, making dark warnings of a "tsunami" of omicron cases to come, the spectre being raised again of overwhelmed hospitals and "experts" now saying the rule of three is not enough and that a circut break is needed, the chances of a lockdown seem to be increasing by the day.
While there are, of course, legitimate fears to be answered, a lockdown is not the way to go. The Scottish people need to stand up and make it clear to the SNP government that we will not be caged up again. Life needs to go on as much as possible. We cannot live in a constant state of fear, which it appears is what the SNP want: a people groomed to be easily controlled and manipulated for the future and the future agendas they have for us. Time to say NO to the Scottish government.
