According to a survey carried out by Citizens Advice Scotland three quarters of Scots on Universal Credit will not be able to cope once the £20 weekly uplift is taken away. 26% say they will be unable to pay for essentials and 14% say they will be unable to buy food.
This is not the Scotland we should be living in. While the Conservatives have to shoulder the vast majority of the blame, as it is their policy to remove the uplift, the SNP while again blaming Westminster must also bear some of it. They have the ability to influence payments north of the border and could take measures to not only make up for the shortfall in income for people that will occur but also to take other measures to help their situation.
Maybe if the SNP and other parties stopped worrying more about bringing in yet more refugees, sending money to African nations, wasting money on transgender rights and so on, we could actually see more spent on bettering the lives of the Scottish people. No Scot should be living in Poverty.

On this day in 2004 the Scottish parliament held its first debate in the new Scottish Parliament building
From the outset, the building and its construction have been controversial. The choices of location, architect, design, and construction company were all criticised by politicians, the media and the Scottish public. Scheduled to open in 2001] it did so in 2004, more than three years late with an estimated final cost of £414 million, many times higher than initial estimates of between £10m and £40m.
The debating chamber of the Scottish Parliament has seating arranged in a hemicycle, a design which is common across European legislatures, intended to encourage consensus and compromise. There are 131 seats in the debating chamber. Of the total 131 seats, 129 are occupied by the Parliament's elected MSPs and two are seats for the Scottish Law Officers—the Lord Advocate and the Solicitor General for Scotland, who are not elected members of the Parliament but are members of the Scottish Government.

On this day in 1468 King Christian the first of Denmark and Norway pawned his personal interest in the lands of Orkney to the King of Scotland. This act led to Orkney and Shetland becoming part of Scotland. The Islands were a province of Norway and Denmark , after they had been colonised by Norsemen in the 9th century .King Christian I was in financial trouble and, when his daughter Margaret became engaged to James III of Scotland in 1468, he needed money to pay her dowry. he entered into a commercial contract on 8 September 1468 with the King of Scots in which he pawned his personal interests in Orkney for 50,000 Rhenish guilders. On 28 May the next year he also pawned his Shetland interests for 8,000 Rhenish guilders. He secured a clause in the contract which gave Christian or his successors the right to redeem the islands for a fixed sum of 210 kilograms of gold or 2,310 kilograms of silver. In 1470 the Earl of Caithness, ceded his title to the king and the isles were annexed to the crown.
McMillan cancer support has warned that Scotland needs more cancer nurses with approximately half the current number set to retire by 2030 and cancer cases making a massive rise to more than 46,000 by then
The Scottish government and many of the opposition parties have neglected the NHS in Scotland for many years. The SNP seems more interested in offering up brobes like free bus travel to under 22s rather than investing in services that will change People's lives.
The training of Nurses and doctors should be a priority with university fees payed by the state for medical courses and a living allowance provide. Too much talent is wasted by high levels of debt and a struggle to live while training not allowing many to be able to enter these vital professions. The cap in the numbers able to train should be lifted. Of course anyone provided with these training benefits should be tied to working for NHS scotland for a set period of time after qualifying.

The death rate of the homeless in Scotland is three times that in England and wales. 216 were recorded in 2019..is this the country we want to live in where people are allowed to die in large numbers on the streets ? The numbers are increasing year on year with an 11% rise between 2018 and 2019.
While many of the deaths are drug related over half are down to other causes. The statistics show not only a continuing failure of the parties in Scotland to tackle the scourge of drug addiction and drug crime. But also homeless in general. We need to see better mental health services as they are a contributing factor to many becoming homeless, better drug treatment, harser sentencing for drug dealers, more housing of a good quality made available.
Yet the Scottish government and other parties seem more interested in providing homes and services for incomers than for Scots and pouring money into services for "minorities" than helping the vulnerable in our Nation

On this day in 1513 the battle of Flodden took place. The battle was a disater for Scotland with estimates of the death toll ranging between 5-18,000. About every noble family in Scotland lost including the Royal Family with King James IV himself dying and at least 10 Earls.
The battle was during the War of the League of Cambrai between the Kingdom of England and the Kingdom of Scotland, resulting in an English victory. The battle was fought near Branxton in the county of Northumberland in northern England, between an invading Scots army under King James IV and an English army commanded by the Earl of Surrey. In terms of troop numbers, it was the largest battle fought between the two kingdoms.

Sturgeon seems voraciously in support of the whole tranagenda..maybe sturgeon has something to tell us. She seems to be more interested in pushing that ahead..even more so than independence and definitely more so than actually sorting this country out
Glasgow has children having to be fed by soup kitchens and streets over run by rats and rubbish. Thousands waiting years for homes..People having to wait hours for an ambulance and then when they arrive at hospital waiting up to 24 hours for a bed.. People left in poverty due to the end of the Universal credit uplift. A situation sturgeon could easily fix with the powers she has. .
But she seems more concerned in making sure a boy can be a girl a giri can be boy and some can be nothing or one this hour and something else the next. Making sure that all people can have periods and babies no matrer what you identify as. She would rather spend time and money on these absurdities than actually making the majority's lives better.

Just in case you were in any doubt that you are living in a dictatorship.. sturgeon attempts to bring in a law to crush any dissent in or around the parliament.
Disagree with gender recognition, immigration policies, abortion, vaccine passports etc and want to go to the parliament to make the MSPs aware of it..you could find yourself in a.police cell instead and up in court, just for wanting to air your views.
Sturgeon and her gang have already introduced the draconian hate crime bill and are trying to hold onto powers brought in to tackle covid and introduced vaccine passports..What next one may ask . . President for life ..the peoples republic of Sturgeonia. It could look ,if she has her way in a few years you may be freer living in North Korea rather than Scotland.
Its time the People of Scotland kicked Sturgeon out and for good measure many of the other politicians in the crony capital.

On this day in 1547 the Battle of Pinkie, also known as the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh, took place on the banks of the River Esk near Musselburgh, Scotland. The last pitched battle between Scotland and England before the Union of the Crowns, it was part of the conflict known as the Rough Wooing and is considered to have been the first modern battle in the British Isles. It was a catastrophic defeat for Scotland, where it became known as "Black Saturday".
The Scots army lost between 5-6000 dead , while the English forces only suffered casualties in.the hundreds. The battle saw the extensive use of artillery including naval artillery from the English fleet offshore and was one of the main factors in the Scottish loss of the battle .
Although they had suffered a resounding defeat, the Scottish government refused to come to terms. The infant Queen Mary was smuggled out of the country to France to be betrothed to the young Dauphin of France, Francis. The English occupied parts of lowland Scotland .
