Edinburgh University hits new heights of ridiculousness in its campaign to "decolonise" its courses and the institution itself.
Alice and bob it seems are used in the computer world as a fictional couple to be place holders to describe how systems and functions work .But it appears they are too white ..so Mohammed and Alisha or ya ya and hadiza it is from now on it seems. Those white wrstern names might offend it appears in a majority white western nation.
The University ,which is one of the elite Russel group universities. Has also told its staff to ignore grammatical/ english mistakes in students work as it might discriminate against them..Though surely you would think part of the job of an elite western university would be too teach people to use grammar and language in a proper way..I cant imagine that employers will be so happy to ignore these errors from staff with a University degree.
The education system is slowly being ruined and becoming a laughing stock. It needs purged of this woke nonsense.

On this day in 1750 the Scottish poet Robert Fergusson was born in Edinburgh.
He attended the Edinburgh High School and Dundee High School. Then after formal education at the University of St Andrews, Fergusson led a bohemian life in Edinburgh, the city of his birth, then at the height of intellectual and cultural ferment as part of the Scottish Enlightenment.
Many of his extant poems were printed from 1771 onwards in Walter Ruddiman's Weekly Magazine, and a collected works was first published early in 1773.
Despite a short life, his career was highly influential, especially through its impact on Robert Burns. He wrote both Scottish English and the Scots language, and it is his vivid and masterly writing in the latter for which he is principally acclaimed.

It appears that in our new inclusive, equal Scotland, discrimination is alive and well, and sadly applauded in certain circles.
This is the second time within weeks that groups of leople have been refused service within hospitality venues in Edinburgh for no other reason than their political/social views are not seen to align with those of the bar staff.
Its ironic that the bar manager said that they believed in people being able to freely live their lives while banning a group of people from being able to live their lives due to the discrimination of the bar staff.
Years ago there was outrage our bars and other venues having signs saying no blacks, no irish, no dogs. But it seems in Edinburgh at least that signs saying no conservatives, no feminists, no nationalist (well, true nationalists, not fake SNP ones), no Christians etc are going to be all the rage.
The licensing board should take these venues to task over breaches of the Equality Act. But of course they won't.

5522 people have DIED in Scotland within 28 days of having the Covid 'vaccine'. Why isn't this all over the mainstream media?
The Lothian Branch were out leafletting this morning around Portobello near Edinburgh...
They posted over 500 leaflets but never bothered taking a picture.
Well done chaps

On this day in 1876 John James Rickard MacLeod was born at Clune, Perthshire.
MacLeod was a physiologist and biochemist. He studied medicine at the University of Aberdeen and the University of Leipzig in Germany. After World War One he he moved to Canada to teach physiology at the University of Toronto.
It was while there that he met Fredrick Grant Banting and the two of them went onto discover insulin. He and Banting were awarded the 1923 Nobel Prize for Medicine for their work on this discovery. Once again this shows for a small nation how big an effect Scotland has had on many of the major discoveries and inventions that have made our world a better place.

Scottish teachers are in an increasingly stressful position at work and this is being added to by the ridiculous transgender debate.
Many feel that they are under threat of losing the professional recognition that they have worked very hard to achieve if they raise any concerns over transgender pupils in their classes. They have been told to recognise any requests to trans from pupils even if they have no medical recognition of their status. Meaning anyone can demand to be recognised as another gender in a school environment and receive all the privileges of the gender such as access to changing rooms and toilets.
This situation can only become worse after the SNP manage to push through their latest gender recognition legislation that will allow even primary school children to claim trans 'rights' without parental consent and remove the need for medical recognition of their claim.
It also opens the spectre of spurious claims against teachers. Teachers are vital to our nation and deserve better.

According to a survey carried out by Citizens Advice Scotland three quarters of Scots on Universal Credit will not be able to cope once the £20 weekly uplift is taken away. 26% say they will be unable to pay for essentials and 14% say they will be unable to buy food.
This is not the Scotland we should be living in. While the Conservatives have to shoulder the vast majority of the blame, as it is their policy to remove the uplift, the SNP while again blaming Westminster must also bear some of it. They have the ability to influence payments north of the border and could take measures to not only make up for the shortfall in income for people that will occur but also to take other measures to help their situation.
Maybe if the SNP and other parties stopped worrying more about bringing in yet more refugees, sending money to African nations, wasting money on transgender rights and so on, we could actually see more spent on bettering the lives of the Scottish people. No Scot should be living in Poverty.

On this day in 2004 the Scottish parliament held its first debate in the new Scottish Parliament building
From the outset, the building and its construction have been controversial. The choices of location, architect, design, and construction company were all criticised by politicians, the media and the Scottish public. Scheduled to open in 2001] it did so in 2004, more than three years late with an estimated final cost of £414 million, many times higher than initial estimates of between £10m and £40m.
The debating chamber of the Scottish Parliament has seating arranged in a hemicycle, a design which is common across European legislatures, intended to encourage consensus and compromise. There are 131 seats in the debating chamber. Of the total 131 seats, 129 are occupied by the Parliament's elected MSPs and two are seats for the Scottish Law Officers—the Lord Advocate and the Solicitor General for Scotland, who are not elected members of the Parliament but are members of the Scottish Government.

On this day in 1468 King Christian the first of Denmark and Norway pawned his personal interest in the lands of Orkney to the King of Scotland. This act led to Orkney and Shetland becoming part of Scotland. The Islands were a province of Norway and Denmark , after they had been colonised by Norsemen in the 9th century .King Christian I was in financial trouble and, when his daughter Margaret became engaged to James III of Scotland in 1468, he needed money to pay her dowry. he entered into a commercial contract on 8 September 1468 with the King of Scots in which he pawned his personal interests in Orkney for 50,000 Rhenish guilders. On 28 May the next year he also pawned his Shetland interests for 8,000 Rhenish guilders. He secured a clause in the contract which gave Christian or his successors the right to redeem the islands for a fixed sum of 210 kilograms of gold or 2,310 kilograms of silver. In 1470 the Earl of Caithness, ceded his title to the king and the isles were annexed to the crown.
McMillan cancer support has warned that Scotland needs more cancer nurses with approximately half the current number set to retire by 2030 and cancer cases making a massive rise to more than 46,000 by then
The Scottish government and many of the opposition parties have neglected the NHS in Scotland for many years. The SNP seems more interested in offering up brobes like free bus travel to under 22s rather than investing in services that will change People's lives.
The training of Nurses and doctors should be a priority with university fees payed by the state for medical courses and a living allowance provide. Too much talent is wasted by high levels of debt and a struggle to live while training not allowing many to be able to enter these vital professions. The cap in the numbers able to train should be lifted. Of course anyone provided with these training benefits should be tied to working for NHS scotland for a set period of time after qualifying.

The death rate of the homeless in Scotland is three times that in England and wales. 216 were recorded in 2019..is this the country we want to live in where people are allowed to die in large numbers on the streets ? The numbers are increasing year on year with an 11% rise between 2018 and 2019.
While many of the deaths are drug related over half are down to other causes. The statistics show not only a continuing failure of the parties in Scotland to tackle the scourge of drug addiction and drug crime. But also homeless in general. We need to see better mental health services as they are a contributing factor to many becoming homeless, better drug treatment, harser sentencing for drug dealers, more housing of a good quality made available.
Yet the Scottish government and other parties seem more interested in providing homes and services for incomers than for Scots and pouring money into services for "minorities" than helping the vulnerable in our Nation
