On this day in 1296 during the First Scottish War of Independence, King Edward I of England took the Stone of Destiny, also know as the Stone of Scone, as spoils of war and removed it to Westminster Abbey, where it was fitted into a wooden chair - known as King Edward's Chair - on which most subsequent English and then British sovereigns have been crowned. Edward I sought to claim the status of the "Lord Paramount" of Scotland, with the right to oversee its King.
Some doubt exists over the stone captured by Edward I. The Westminster Stone theory posits that the monks at Scone Palace hid the real stone in the River Tay, or buried it on Dunsinane Hill, and that the English troops were tricked into taking a substitute. Some proponents of this theory claim that historic descriptions of the stone do not match the present stone.

It appears that neither the Met's policy to push for a multicultural police force nor their security vetting processes are going well.
Ruby Begum, a police officer with their public order unit, has been found to have tweeted racist and anti-Semitic rants over a period of several years. She is, or was, friends and in regular contact with a notorious female Isis propagandist.
Who knows how all this was missed by the Met's vetting procedures. Maybe they are so desperate to get ethnics into the service that they lower the barrier for anyone who isn't white, as we have seen in education and various other industries.
How can the public have trust in officers of certain backgrounds when revelations like this come out? Are our services now being infiltrated by a 5th column?

Our Glasgow branch got together to sensitively restore the Kriss Donald memorial bench and have another tidy up on the Clyde Walkway as part of their Indigenous People’s Day activism.
