Today marks a very sad day in Scottish history. On the 6th of July 1988 the Piper Alpha oil platform disaster occurred. Piper Alpha was a oil and gas extraction platform located 120 miles north east of Aberdeen. On the 6th of July a series of explosions ripped through the platform destroying most of it and killing 167 workers including 2 men from a rescue boat. Only 61 members of Piper Alpha's crew survived.
Piper Alpha is the world's worst offshore oil platform disaster. The disaster led to the Cullen Inquiry led by Scottish judge William Cullen. The inquiry criticised the safety procedures of the platform's operator Occidental Petroleum but no criminal charges were brought. It also made 106 recommendations to North Sea oil safety procedures.
In 1991 a sculpture of three oil workers was erected in the rose garden at Hazlehead Park in Aberdeen commemorating the disaster. The Kirk of Saint Nicholas on Union street in Aberdeen has dedicated a chapel to the victims.

A community is considering a buyout of land that was once home to a thriving community but was cleared by the Duchess of Sutherland to be used for sheep farming. The settlement used to have 18 longhouses plus barns and other associated structures. It has lain empty since the 1800s and is now a scheduled monument.
The community trust is looking to buy the land and if it decides to go ahead to repopulate some of the land with a small new settlement.
Its great to see the countryside being brought back To life with potential new settlements. It should be a goal of the Nationalist movement to become involved in this repopulation. Hopefully opportunities will exist for us to set up our own communities in the future. Communities that would be the basis for a more traditional, healthy way of life and potentially bring employment and economic benefits to some of our neglected rural communities.

On this day in Scottish history the Raid of Redeswire occurred in 1575. It was the last major battle fought between the forces of Scotland and England. It took place at Carter Bar, a pass in the Cheviot Hills. The battle was fought between the border forces of Sir John Foster on the English side and Sir John Carmichael and George Douglas and his border reivers on the Scottish side. It ended in a Scottish victory.
Also on this day in 1307, Edward the First, known as the 'Hammer of the Scots', died at the Burgh by Sands on his way to Scotland to fight Robert the Bruce.

Today we remember the 52 people killed and the more than 700 injured on the 7th of July 2005 in four suicide attacks in London by Islamic terrorists. 7 victims died in a terror attack on the underground at Aldgate, six in an attack on the Edgware Road underground, twenty-six died in an attack on the King's Cross underground and a further thirteen on a bus at Tavistock Square.
The attacks were carried out by three men of Pakistani heritage from Leeds and a Jamaican convert to Islam from Buckinghamshire.
Though the attacks were carried out by Islamic terrorists the ultimate responsibility for the deaths of the 52 people and the injuries of the 700-plus people injured in the attacks lies in the bloodstained hands of British politicians of all parties and the hands of the left-wing supporters of mass immigration. Without mass immigration and the rise of Political Islam being allowed to go unchecked in the UK by the authorities for years these attacks would never have been able to occur.

Yet again the Scottish Government have been found to be involved in trying to delay the release of data that could reflect badly on their management of Covid-19 .
The publication of Covid-19 deaths by individual care homes was kept secret until after the 2021 Holyrood election after a minister intervened in the process.
The Scottish Government has a history of trying to suppress any information that makes it clear just how badly they are dealing with running our Nation's affairs. Before the election they also suppressed the release of a report that revealed how badly they had mismanaged the Scottish education system.
Surely it must be clear to the people of Scotland now with these cover-ups and other mismanagement that the Scottish Government cannot be trusted to run our Nation.

With two hospitals in Grampian declaring 'code black' status, where non-essential operations are banned amongst other measures and NHS Lanarkshire saying it is under terrible stress, it looks like the wheels are coming off the SNP Covid-19 strategy. Added to this, the much vaunted contact tracing system is falling well below international standards in another Scottish Government failure.
It also looks like the SNP's recently announced 'freedom day' is also starting to be quietly shelved by the SNP Government with ministers and Sturgeon herself saying that the date is not set in stone.
With many of the worst Covid hotspots in Europe being in Scotland, rising cases, hospitals in crisis and with it looking like the population of Scotland being stuck in restrictions for the foreseeable future, surely the Scottish electorate must realise that the SNP have yet again failed them.

The University of Glasgow used to be one of not just Britain's premier universities but the world's. Now it is filed with "woke" stupidity and virtue signaling. Yet another example of Scotland's once admired education system in decline.
It appears that the new breed of student is judged as being too sensitive to be warned about course content that may "trigger" them by using the word "trigger". The word trigger is now a trigger word that can traumatise students, it seems. The clown world gathers steam in the education sector.
The whole point of university is to challenge people, to expand their minds, to expose them to new ideas and, yes, some of those may make them uneasy. But the world is not an easy place and we do no service to students who will enter the real world by insulating them in some kind of woke-regulated cotton-wool-wrapped world. We should be giving them the tools to deal with unease and difficult situations.

Edinburgh has long been know as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, if not the world. A world heritage site with its soaring spires, castle and ancient buildings . Now that beautiful skyline has what can only be described as a shining golden dog turd looming over it. A Council sponsered vandalism of a beautiful city .
With many brilliant classical trained architects producing beautifu traditional buildings around the world there is no need for a disgrace like this building to scar the face of the city of Edinburgh. Our world needs more of the beauty of traditional buildings not this modern vandalism..it reflects the ugliness that lives in modernity of all types..
It is yet another sign how the politicians in Goverment, both national and local are not fit for the job. They are supposed to be working to make scotland a better place and preserve the beauty of our ancient land. But here we see them allow something that brings ugliness to beauty and ridicule to our nation

On this day in 1911, Simon Fraser, 15th Lord Lovat was born in Beauly, Invernesshire. He was responsible for the fornation of the commando force during world war two and took part in many of the raids against mainland Europe. He was most famous for during the D Day landings telling his personal piper Bill Millin to pipe him and his commandos ashore. Bill demured saying that it was explicitly banned under British army regulations. Fraser famously responded "Ah, but that’s the English War Office. You and I are both Scottish, and that doesn’t apply".
Peter Lawford famously played the part of Fraser in the 1962 film about the D Day landings , the longest day

Patriotic Alternative would like to send their congratulations to our good friend Charlie Big Potatoes and his wife on the happy news that they are having their fourth child.
On this day in 1274 Robert the Bruce was born. His paternal fourth great-grandfather was King David I. Robert's grandfather, Robert de Brus, 5th Lord of Annandale, was one of the claimants to the Scottish throne during the "Great Cause". As Earl of Carrick, Robert the Bruce supported his family's claim to the Scottish throne and took part in William Wallace's revolt against Edward I of England. Appointed in 1298 as a Guardian of Scotland.
Bruce's was crowned king of Scots on 25 March 1306. Edward I's forces defeated Robert in the battle of Methven, forcing him to flee into hiding before re-emerging in 1307 to defeat an English army at Loudoun Hill and wage a highly successful guerrilla war against the English. Bruce defeated his other opponents, destroying their strongholds and devastating their lands, and in 1309 held his first parliament. A series of military victories between 1310 and 1314 won him control of much of Scotland, and at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, Robert defeated the English
