At first glance this may seem like more laughable nonsense from the woke people at the teaching union. But when you look at what they intend to do to an a education system that already fails the white working class its far more sinister.

Apart from the stupidity of their claim that how your desks are arranged is a legacy of colonialism and therefore racist. They want to introduce far worse things to the education system. The 450,000-member union says there is an “urgent” need to “decolonise” every subject and every stage of the school day .A new NEU report discusses how specialists could “train teachers and schools on whiteness, anti-racism, creating tools for critical self-reflection and understanding the system”, and “make white privilege and colonialism visible” in schools.
“From curriculum to routines to classroom layout, our education system has been shaped by colonisation and neo-liberalism,” it adds.

The teachers' union wants to make schools not places of education, not places where children are nurtured, made to be confident and happy, but places where white children will be bombarded every day with the message that just by being born they are privileged, racist and must apologise to the non-white world for their existence and the achievements of their ancestors.

In a world where children are already struggling with their mental health this has to have a terrible effect on our children. We should be making our children proud of what their ancestors have brought to the world. Of course we had things in our past that were maybe not so good - but so does every race and nation. The good things that the people of Europe have brought to the world far outstrips the bad. That is what we should be teaching our children. We should be teaching them pride, not self-hatred.

The politicians seem to either support this rubbish - especially, it seems, here in Scotland - or won't take action to stop it. This is one of the reasons that Patriotic Alternative supports and encourages people to get involved in homeschooling their children.

Today our cousins over the Atlantic celebrate Independence Day. But it is little known that a Scot had a great influence on Thomas Jefferson, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.

William Small was born in Carmyllie, Angus in 1734 before moving to the American colonies where in 1758 he was appointed Professor of Natural Philosophy at William and Mary College in Virginia. It was there that he taught Thomas Jefferson and became his mentor and a major influence on his life. It was Small's mentoring and his introduction of Jefferson to many members of society that led to Jefferson's view of the world and his actions in years to come.

Just another example of the large impact the small nation of Scotland and its people have had on the world.

Yet again, the people of Scotland are being failed by the SNP. Ever since the SNP took control of running the NHS in Scotland we have seen it getting worse. At the start of devolution spending on the NHS in Scotland was 22% higher than in England. Under the stewardship of the SNP this has fallen to just 3% higher than in England. The SNP had promised to "transform" NHS Scotland by spending an extra 2.1% on the health service but this is far below what Westminster is going to spend in England at 3.4% and with increased demands for health services post Covid this is unlikely to cover the costs NHS Scotland already faces, never mind be able to transform it.

The NHS in Scotland under the SNP is already in a very weak position with NHS Scotland missing 6 out of 8 national waiting time standards in 2018/19. Cancer deaths under the SNP have risen as well. In 2007 when the SNP took power there were 15,202 deaths; this has steadily risen to 16,253 in 2018.

The NHS under the SNP has a shortage of at least 500 hospital specialists and a quarter of GP surgeries have unfilled vacancies. Between 2017/18 and 2018/19 there has been a 2.2% increase in waiting times for outpatient appointments and 6.1% increase in waiting times for inpatient appointments. A truly shocking figure under the SNP is that a Glaswegian man can expect only 54.6 years of good health but a man in still-developing Albania can expect 69.1 years.

Even compared to south of the border things are terrible. Deaths in Glasgow caused by lung cancer are 27% higher, by suicide 70% higher, by alcohol-related causes 130% higher and by drug-related causes a shocking 250% higher than equally deprived Manchester and Liverpool. The SNP have cut drug rehabilitation services, making the crisis in drugs far worse than it already was.

The SNP talk big on ending poverty but have totally failed to tackle the deprivation that leads to many health-related conditions while at the same time running down our once well-funded and excellent health system. It is fair to say the SNP Government is a danger to the health of the people of Scotland.

On this day in 1745, Charles Edward Stewart set sail from France for Scotland to start his campaign to take back the Crown of Great Britain for the deposed Stewart Dynasty.

He set sail in two ships but one, the Elisabeth, which was carrying his gold and military supplies, was badly damaged in a encounter with a Royal Navy ship and had to return to France.

The push to "decolonise" Scotland's schools gathers pace as the head of the Curriculum at James Gillespie High in Edinburgh has decided that they will no longer teach important texts of Western Culture such as Of Mice and Men and To Kill a Mockingbird to third year pupils. They intend to replace the seminal books with woke books dealing with such things as the BLM movement in America.

It appears that our schools, which should be educating our children in the excellence of Western literature and the arts, are instead going to become nothing more than another plank in the attempts to brainwash our children into the woke agenda and the self-hatred of Critical Race theory.

Today marks a very sad day in Scottish history. On the 6th of July 1988 the Piper Alpha oil platform disaster occurred. Piper Alpha was a oil and gas extraction platform located 120 miles north east of Aberdeen. On the 6th of July a series of explosions ripped through the platform destroying most of it and killing 167 workers including 2 men from a rescue boat. Only 61 members of Piper Alpha's crew survived.

Piper Alpha is the world's worst offshore oil platform disaster. The disaster led to the Cullen Inquiry led by Scottish judge William Cullen. The inquiry criticised the safety procedures of the platform's operator Occidental Petroleum but no criminal charges were brought. It also made 106 recommendations to North Sea oil safety procedures.

In 1991 a sculpture of three oil workers was erected in the rose garden at Hazlehead Park in Aberdeen commemorating the disaster. The Kirk of Saint Nicholas on Union street in Aberdeen has dedicated a chapel to the victims.
