Today the South West branch had its first hike. We took to the beautiful rolling hills of Exmoor that spread across North Devon and West Somerset. It was a feast for the eyes as well as the soul. Old friends were once again reacquainted and new friendships were forged. Sights to behold included a prehistoric Iron Age hill fort, now known as Cow Castle, and Birchcleave Wood. The original trees planted before 1840 are now reaching the end of their life span and are reputed to be the highest in the country.
