Jeremiah 3:11-15

[11] And the LORD said to me, “Faithless Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah. [12] Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say,

“‘Return, faithless Israel,
declares the LORD.
I will not look on you in anger,
for I am merciful,
declares the LORD;
I will not be angry forever.
[13] Only acknowledge your guilt,
that you rebelled against the LORD your God
and scattered your favors among foreigners under every green tree,
and that you have not obeyed my voice,
declares the LORD.
[14] Return, O faithless children,
declares the LORD;
for I am your master;
I will take you, one from a city and two from a family,
and I will bring you to Zion.

[15] “‘And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

A faithful shepherd, a faithful man of God’s Word, a faithful man after His own heart, is God’s blessing to His people!❤️. May God in His great mercy bless our nation with more faithful shepherds, but first our people must repent: 2 Chronicles 7:13-14

[13] When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, [14] if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”❤️

Today is the first day of Pastor Appreciation month, so I wanted to take a minute to thank you, Stuart, for…

Never relenting in serving your first Love, your King, Lord, Precious Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

Being intentional about loving me well…watering me with the Word, protecting me physically, emotionally and spiritually, knowing me so well that you pick up on my being burned out before I do and lead me to rest.

Leading by example with excellence…you have diligently taught our children, to love the Lord with all of their hearts… not just by words, but by how you live out each day showing them that this life is about serving God… that everything in life is a means to that end, whether vocational ministry, working in the home, or as a layman.

Training our boys to be men who love and respect women, who work hard and are young men of integrity and being intentional to show our girls how a man is to love a woman.

Working so diligently to provide for our needs.

Your unwavering, unequivocal, diligence and dedication to upholding the truth of God’s Word, without compromise.

Your passion for seeing every believer serve Christ with all they have and walk closely with their Lord that they might experience the sweet gift of fellowship with Him.

Your gentle humility, allowing others around you to grow without being judgmental…even when you are hurt through it.

The people’s shepherd…
Somehow taking the time to love each of us so well, that when asked each of our children without hesitation would say: “my Dad is my best friend.” But also making time to invest in, shepherd and love both your FBF family and GIW family.

Jeremiah 3:14-15

[14] Return, O faithless children,
declares the LORD;
for I am your master;
I will take you, one from a city and two from a family,
and I will bring you to Zion.

[15] “‘And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

You see, a shepherd after God’s own heart who teaches His people His Word is one of the seven blessings promised by God to His people in the coming millennial era.

What an immense treasure it is when God blesses His people with a man who teaches the truth!

Thank you for being such a man!

Second only to my relationship with Christ and my redemption in Him is the blessing and privilege of being your wife! I am so very thankful for you!

Jeremiah 15:15-21

[15] O LORD, you know;
remember me and visit me,
and take vengeance for me on my persecutors.
In your forbearance take me not away;
know that for your sake I bear reproach.
[16] Your words were found, and I ate them,
and your words became to me a joy
and the delight of my heart,
for I am called by your name,
O LORD, God of hosts.
[17] I did not sit in the company of revelers,
nor did I rejoice;
I sat alone, because your hand was upon me,
for you had filled me with indignation.
[18] Why is my pain unceasing,
my wound incurable,
refusing to be healed?
Will you be to me like a deceitful brook,
like waters that fail?

[19] Therefore thus says the LORD:
“If you return, I will restore you,
and you shall stand before me.
If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless,
you shall be as my mouth.
They shall turn to you,
but you shall not turn to them.
[20] And I will make you to this people
a fortified wall of bronze;
they will fight against you,
but they shall not prevail over you,
for I am with you
to save you and deliver you,
declares the LORD.
[21] I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked,
and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless.”

Jeremiah trusted God and followed His Word, even though it meant he was an outcast from everyone around him. Loneliness is seen throughout the mighty men and women of scripture, king David only had Jonathan, Ruth only had Naomi (until God brought her to Boaz), Esther had her dear Uncle Mordecai, even Jesus, the living Word only had 11 disciples and most of them abandoned Him in his time of need.
Don’t be discouraged if you find yourself feeling lonely, Jeremiah cried out to God in his loneliness…and God encouraged his heart. Notice, God didn’t promise him friends, he didn’t even say he would make everyone like him, no but God promised something so much better:
“…for I am with you…” (vs. 20)
God, our great and merciful Heavenly Father loves us…speak openly and honestly with Him, He knows what is on your heart, Even when you work hard to push it down deep. Allowing Him to then comfort you and heal your heart.
The final happy birthday party for AB and a day on the water!

The Evangelical Pulpit, John Seel writes,
A politicized faith not only blurs our priorities, but weakens our loyalties. Our primary citizenship is not on earth but in heaven.… Though few evangelicals would deny this truth in theory, the language of our spiritual citizenship frequently gets wrapped in the red, white and blue. Rather than acting as resident aliens of a heavenly kingdom, too often we sound [and act] like resident apologists for a Christian America.… Unless we reject the false reliance on the illusion of Christian America, evangelicalism will continue to distort the gospel and thwart a genuine biblical identity.…
American evangelicalism is now covered by layers and layers of historically shaped attitudes that obscure our original biblical core. ([Grand Rapids: Baker, 1993], pp. 106–7)

Christ’s Example of Humility

[1] So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, [2] complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. [3] Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. [4] Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. [5] Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, [6] who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, [7] but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. [8] And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. [9] Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, [10] so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11] and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
May God bless you with an amazing day! Go serve the Lord today in what ever way He guides! We will be doing a produce giveaway today in Downtown Yemassee! Praying for gospel opportunities!

Dear ones, I can’t say this enough…READ GOD’S WORD! If you want to get a better handle on what is going on in our nation…read the prophets…The book of Jeremiah is so relevant! God never changes! Please, please do not allow yourself to be deceived!

Jeremiah 27:16-18

[16] Then I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying, “Thus says the LORD: Do not listen to the words of your prophets who are prophesying to you, saying, ‘Behold, the vessels of the LORD’s house will now shortly be brought back from Babylon,’ for it is a lie that they are prophesying to you. [17] Do not listen to them; serve the king of Babylon and live. Why should this city become a desolation? [18] If they are prophets, and if the word of the LORD is with them, then let them intercede with the LORD of hosts, that the vessels that are left in the house of the LORD, in the house of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem may not go to Babylon.

Understanding in context here that the “vessels” in this text had become symbolic of the favor of the Lord. Throughout the Old Testament we see the relationship between the “vessels of the Lord’s house” and the favor of the Lord on the nation.
In essence the false teachers of Jeremiah’s time were telling the people…”oh no worries, soon everything will be set back right and we will again have the favor of the Lord…” maybe they were claiming that because of Nebuchadnezzar’s wickedness God wouldn’t allow him to remain, he was a wicked, pagan King (Daniel 3), well at least at the start, and during the time of the prophecy we are considering, oh but God! 😊(Daniel 5:28-37) Maybe these false teachers, false prophets were politicizing their beliefs…they were after all the leaders of God’s chosen people, maybe they thought they were above repentance?
But what did God call call them to do?
God, through the prophet Jeremiah makes clear how to recognize His true servant from the false in Verse 18: “If they are prophets, and if the word of the Lord is in them, then let them intercede with the Lord of hosts…”
Simply put: a true servant of the Most High speaks the full counsel of God’s Word and prays. A true man of God knows who holds the hearts of men:

Proverbs 21:1

[1] The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD;
he turns it wherever he will.

As the story of the life of King Nebuchadnezzar validates (read Daniel!)
We don’t need to waste our time following men who politicize God’s Word, making empty promises and false claims, we need to know God as He has revealed Himself through His Word! ❤️
Be a diligent student of God’s Word, so that you will quickly identify the lies from the truth!

Charles Spurgeon said, “Though grace does not run in the blood, and regeneration is not of blood nor of birth, yet doth it very frequently . . . happen that God, by means of one of a household, draws the rest to himself. He calls an individual, and then uses him to be a sort of spiritual decoy to bring the rest of the family into the gospel net.”

Psalm 35:1-12

Great Is the LORD

Of David.

[1] Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me;
fight against those who fight against me!
[2] Take hold of shield and buckler
and rise for my help!
[3] Draw the spear and javelin
against my pursuers!
Say to my soul,
“I am your salvation!”

[4] Let them be put to shame and dishonor
who seek after my life!
Let them be turned back and disappointed
who devise evil against me!
[5] Let them be like chaff before the wind,
with the angel of the LORD driving them away!
[6] Let their way be dark and slippery,
with the angel of the LORD pursuing them!

[7] For without cause they hid their net for me;
without cause they dug a pit for my life.
[8] Let destruction come upon him when he does not know it!
And let the net that he hid ensnare him;
let him fall into it—to his destruction!

[9] Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD,
exulting in his salvation.
[10] All my bones shall say,
“O LORD, who is like you,
delivering the poor
from him who is too strong for him,
the poor and needy from him who robs him?”

[11] Malicious witnesses rise up;
they ask me of things that I do not know.
[12] They repay me evil for good;
my soul is bereft.

Grace

What does Grace mean?
Grace in New Testament Greek is "charis" (khar' - ece) Definitions include: favor, benefit, gift, benevolence or attitude toward another

Paul uses the word Grace in all 13 of his epistles. He uses the word in his greetings and in his final words of greeting. What is an "epistle" you may be asking? Epistle - Greek word is "epistole" (ep-is-tol-ay') Means a written message or letter. Usually written in response to circumstances that need to be dealt with promptly. This fits when you read Paul's letters dealing with various problems in the new churches.

Why? What kind of Grace is Paul referring to? From whom do we receive this Grace?

Grace comes from our Father in heaven through the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

We all are born into sin and it is a condition of our heart. God knew we needed a Savior who would have to be sacrificed as the final blood offering in order to atone for our sins. Jesus came to reconcile us back to our Father in heaven through His death, burial and resurrection. God and our Lord Jesus Christ provided the free gift of His favor for our benefit though His benevolence and loving attitude towards us! GRACE!!

It is my prayer that if you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior that you will seek Him out today. He has already paid the price for every sin everyone has ever or will ever commit. Believe that He is the one and only Son of the Most High God, that He came for you, that He died, was buried and resurrected for you. That He ascended into heaven and has forgiven you all of your sins just for the asking, so that you can be reconciled back to your Father.

Here are the simple, but very powerful words of the Apostle Paul:

Romans 1:7
To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 16:20
The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

1 Corinthians 1:3
Grace
to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 16:23
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.

2 Corinthians 1:2
Grace
to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 13:14
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Galatians 1:3
Grace
to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,

Galatians 6:18
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.

You get the idea; Ephesians 1:2 / 6:24 Philippians 1:2 / 4:23 Colossians 1:2 / 4:18 1 Thessalonians 1:1 / 5:28 2 Thessalonians 1:2 / 3:18 1 Timothy 1:2 / 6:21 2 Timothy 1:2 / 4:22 Titus 1:4 / 3:15 Philemon 1:3 / 1:25

Ephesians 2:8-9

(8
) For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, (9) not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

God loves you! Jesus loves you! I love you and desire you to have the same assurance of salvation that I have.

Grace to you and peace from our Father and Lord Jesus Christ!
Amen!!
