Organizing is not just about showing your ideas to other people. It’s about building relationships and shared understanding of shared conditions that is the fertile ground in which shared and radical ideas can grow. More than showing, this is about listening and asking questions. Of course, organizers are not just passive in this process but make sure to bring all of these different elements into the conversation and by doing so create room for people to explore and change.

We need all the comrades and allies we’ve got, and our disagreements and differences — if we’re not engaging in scorched-earth campaigns against one another — could actually strengthen us.

[...] Our battles today are urgent, no doubt, but we should have a sense of humility and proportion about our own experience and influence

[...] we have to be able to debate one another without just trying to win a line or points. We have to actually engage with competing political positions.

Happy Birthday to Malcolm X, born on this day in 1925. While known for his devotion to Islam and his activism towards Black Liberation, Malcolm also began to fight for the liberation of all workers, black and white, shortly before he was assassinated.
