It is because of my strength.
If I die today,
Civil war will start tomorrow.
Come, brave ones of India,
Come free me!" - Safdar Hashmi

As we enter the new year, protests across the planet continue unabated; rising levels of discontent are manifest in both progressive and reactionary directions. The political character of the anger…
"Our goals for this strike solidarity kit are two-fold:
Provide other DSA chapters and SV DSA’s Labor Working Group with a ‘playbook’ of tactics and strategies to employ in future strike solidarity efforts. We hope that you’ll be able to use the best practices in this document and adapt ideas found here to suit your chapters’ strengths, and the needs of the picket lines you’re supporting.
Provide a retrospective of what we at Silicon Valley DSA did in support of the workers on strike at the San José Marriott, to discuss what worked, and to be honest about what we could improve in the future."

"Africa has produced much greatness; let it never be said that the continent is lacking in greatness. If truth be told, Africa’s great people of character and principle have often been silenced by forces of greed, exploitation and selfishness. Africa must then learn to build strong and enduring systems for the protection of virtue, the promotion of character and the vilification of vice. Africa would have been better than what it is today, if Thomas Noel Isidore Sankara were alive as an elder statesman to celebrate his 70th birthday anniversary."

Thomas Sankara’s passion was Africa’s advancement; his experimental field was Burkina Faso. What President Sankara wanted to see in Africa, he strategized, mobilized and implemented in Burkina Faso.
"So we decided to try new ways of reporting with people, not on them. We adopted a model called Story Circles that has been successfully used in the US and adapted it for a British audience. It involves convening small groups of people affected by different dimensions of an issue and creating a warm, welcoming space for the sharing of first-hand stories. It relies on the idea of “radical hospitality” – using soft rugs, plants, tealights and food, to create a homely ambience."

"In October 2015, a building called La Morada (The Residence) was opened in a working-class neighborhood of Madrid. This was the first node in a network of social and cultural centers directly managed by Podemos. The 460 square-meter space allowed the neighborhood’s residents to come and have a drink at the bar, attend cultural events and photography exhibitions, settle down for a few hours in a co-working space or a room with Wi-Fi access, buy products in the official Podemos shop, attend public debates and film screenings and, finally, hold Podemos circle or local association meetings."

Podemos: A “Party-Movement” in Government
Upon its creation in 2014, Podemos insisted it was nothing like the political parties that had long dominated Spain. Today, Pablo Iglesias’s party looks like an ever-more institutionalized force — yet one whose activists continue to see themselves as belonging…
