And so we get this staggering fact from the _Jewish Encyclopedia (B, Vol. X, p . 497) : "Of 58 marriages contracted by the descendants of Mayer Amschel Rothschild, to date (1905) no less than 29, or exactly one-half, have been between first cousins ." Betty Rothschild, daughter of Solomon, actually married her uncle, Baron James of Paris, whilst Anselm Rothschild married his niece, the daughter of Nathaniel .
