On October 27, Karachi police arrested four suspects , Syed Ajlal Zaidi, Faraz, Shahab Asghar, and Ahsan Abbas , affiliated with the newly emerged militant group Lashkar-e-Tharallah, which claimed responsibility for the target killing of journalist Imtiaz Mir.
Now during interrogation, Ajlal Zaidi confessed to involvement in sectarian killings in 2011, while Faraz was linked to multiple murder cases in 2022. Investigators revealed that the groupβs leader operates from a 'neighboring country', and oversees the Karachi network from there.
Zaidi reportedly joined the Zainebiyoun Brigade in 2011 and traveled illegally to neighboring country three to four times for training and instructions. Once targets were assigned, the group conducted reconnaissance before executing attacks, with local facilitators providing motorbikes and weapons.
Faraz, employed as a city guard, also participated in reconnaissance and assassinations on orders from abroad. Authorities further disclosed that financial support was provided to secure membersβ release from jail, confirming that the entire network is funded and directed from a neighboring country.
