All these men belonged to the HGB affiliated group, locally known as Fatah Unit, an old faction loyal to HGB. Bismillah, alias Fatah, was a senior member of this faction. He hailed from Mismakhil village in the Zoi Sayedgai district of North Waziristan and had long served as a senior commander, holding his position after the death of his father, Amir Dad Khan {Aajiz} aka Skrawati, a close associate of HGB who was active in Barmal district.
His father was killed during the Zarb-e-Azb operation. Fatah himself was also active in the Afghan wars and spent three and a half years in Afghan prisons until the Taliban takeover. He was killed in a strike in Hassan Khel, NW along with his associates, which the group described as an “attack orchestrated by a cunning enemy spy.”
