Even a day after yesterday’s suicide attack in Quetta, no group has officially claimed responsibility. However, following the restoration of internet in Afghanistan after two days, messages are now circulating on TTP-affiliated unofficial channels suggesting that the so-called Tehreek‑e‑Taliban Pakistan SIF unit (Special Suicide Force) 'Al Farooq Brigade' carried out the attack. Despite this, the TTP has not formally claimed responsibility through any of its channels, which it typically uses to announce such operations responsibilities.

In a statement issued through its media wing, Umar Media, the militant group Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the 30 September attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Quetta city.

The statement, attributed to TTP spokesperson Muhammad Khurasani, said the assault was carried out by members of its Special Istishhadi Force (SIF). Six individuals were named as participants: Baraa bin Malik, identified as the individual who detonated an explosives-laden vehicle, and five others — Khalid bin Walid, Mu‘adh bin Ghufra, Umair bin Humaam, Abdullah bin Atik, and Dhiraar bin Azwar — who, according to the group, entered the camp after the blast. The group said the attackers were armed with grenades, improvised bombs, and other weapons. All six were reported killed during the incident.

According to the claim, the attack began with a vehicle carrying around 350 kilograms of explosives driven into a building inside the compound. Following the explosion, the other assailants attempted to storm the facility and engaged in gunfire before being killed.

The TTP statement framed the attack as retaliation. It cited:

-Military operations and drone strikes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, tribal districts, and the Tirah Valley.

-Allegations of enforced disappearances in Balochistan.

The group also attempted to appeal to Baloch populations in its message.

The group is coping too hard in their statement. They’re saying the attackers had just one grenade and two mags left before being killed, and firefight dragged on for two hours straight. Claiming they were taken out right before entering HQ is just a cover-up. The pictures forces released look like prisoners staged in a fake encounter, and in panic the army ended up firing on civilians—which is why they died, not because of some “explosive attack.”
Looks like the attackers had prepped for months with big expectations, but when things didn’t play out as planned, they’re now just spinning excuses. :))

For the first time, Ittehadul Mujahideen Pakistan (IMP) claimed responsibility for an ambush on police and Rangers personnel on September 29, 2025, in Harikot, Poonch, AJK. The assault has been attributed to Hafiz Gul Bahadur (HGB), a component of the IMP coalition, and was executed by the Hakimullah Mehsud Karwan (HMK) faction—a formerly dormant subgroup of the Pakistani Taliban that has occasionally mounted limited attacks across various regions.

The HMK is rooted in South Waziristan and draws its name from the legacy of Hakimullah Mehsud, the second emir of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Initially aligned with the TTP under Sheheryar Mehsud, the faction broke away during the leadership disputes that followed Hakimullah’s death, when Mullah Fazlullah assumed command. Under Sheheryar’s leadership, the Karwan carried out independent operations, sometimes in coordination with groups such as Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, and circulated propaganda through the “Zulfiqar Media” banner.

The turning point came in February 2020, when Sheheryar was killed in an IED blast in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, leading to a prolonged period of dormancy for the Karwan. Though the group rejoined the TTP under Mukhlis Yar later that year, between November 2024 and January 2025, several HMK commanders gradually aligned themselves with HGB, culminating in an official merger in January 2025.

Since operating under HGB, the Hakimullah Mehsud Karwan has claimed multiple attacks: the targeting of a police officer in Karachi (February 2025), the killing of two Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officials in Kohat (March 2025), and most recently, the September 2025 ambush in Poonch.
