A little-known militant faction calling itself Khorasan Ittihad-e-Mujahideen (KIM) has resurfaced in North Waziristan in 2025. The group presents Ghazi Bilal Khorasani as its spokesperson and asserts that it operates independently, without links to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) or the Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen (IMP).

Origins and Background:

According to sources associated with Jamaat-ul-Ahrar-who, for reasons not fully understood, have been actively promoting the group-KIM has existed in various forms since 2014. It initially operated as the Khorasan Group, later rebranded as Saif al-Furqan, and eventually went dormant. The group re-emerged in April 2025, releasing a series of statements and media content.

Recent Activity Timeline (2025):

-11 April – The group reappeared publicly, issuing warnings against individuals it accused of working with authorities.

-12 April – Issued further congratulatory message on the announcement of the IMP’s formation.

-28 April – 30 June – Released multiple messages portraying its activities as religiously motivated and framing its operations as part of a broader struggle.

-1 May – Published its first statement in Urdu, aimed at local audiences, again focusing on alleged collaborators.

-23 September – Directed threats towards the Malakh tribe in Boya Tehsil, North Waziristan, announcing that government schools would be shut down, with a particular emphasis on ending girls’ education. The group explicitly named four schools it claimed it would target for destruction:

-Government Girls High School, Mir Akbar Kot

-Boya Model School, Muhammad Khel

-Islamia Model Public School, Muhammad Khel

-Government Primary School, Muhammad Khel

The statement also threatened that homes of suspected informants would be attacked.

An undated video circulated on a Jamaat-ul-Ahrar–linked channel showed a man name Aminoor claiming to be an informant, flanked by armed militants. The video ended with his execution, which the channel attributed to KIM in Datta Khel, North Waziristan.

An undated video circulating on social media shows approximately 10 alleged TTP militants establishing an illegal checkpoint along Kotani-Kobhi Road. The armed elements are seen standing by the roadside, stopping and searching civilians and vehicles. Based on sources, the footage corresponds to Kotani-Kobhi Road, situated within the jurisdiction of Wahwa Police Station in Taunsa Sharif, Punjab.

Sources confirm that Wahwa Police Station is located only 1.5 to 2 kilometers from the checkpoint. Reports indicate that Punjab Police vacated the Kotani check post, and the TTP has now set up a road checkpoint directly in front of this position. The incident reportedly took place yesterday in the late afternoon.

Local sources further indicates that militant activity is not confined to Kotani-Kobhi Road. Similar movements and temporary checkpoints have been observed along Natkani Road and other tribal areas under Wahwa Police Station’s control. The presence of a significant number of armed militants in these sectors poses a serious threat of a major security incident.

Additional videos circulating simultaneously from Khyber, Tank, and Karak areas suggest that TTP has established similar roadblocks in retaliation for a successful Pakistan Army operation in the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan yesterday In response, the group has reportedly initiated checkpoint deployments across Tunusa Sharif, Daraban, Tank, and Karak to avenge the deaths of their fighters, some sources claimed.

At the time of writing this report, some accounts indicate that crossfire is ongoing between security forces and militants in the Kotani area.

Meanwhile a TTP-affiliated media reported that its militants ambushed police forces in Kotani, Taunsa Sharif, Dera Ismail Khan .

Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has released the 12th episode of its Rabt-e-Millat podcast, lasting over 22 minutes. The program featured Muneeb ur Rehman Jutt, head of TTP’s media commission, and Mufti Ghufran, a member of the group’s leadership council.

The discussion focused on the recent decision by Pakistani religious seminaries to invalidate the academic degree of TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud. The speakers claimed the move was carried out under state pressure and argued it does not affect Mehsud’s religious standing or leadership within the group.

Throughout the podcast, the participants criticized Pakistani state institutions, media outlets, and the military, portraying them as attempting to conceal failures. They also warned certain journalists, accusing them of siding with the authorities.

The podcast concluded with the hosts pledging to continue addressing current issues through future episodes.

At approximately 8:30 PM last night, police and security forces executed a joint counter-terrorism raid on a confirmed hideout of the Mulla Nazir faction, affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). -:Russia, China, Pakistan and Iran Demand Taliban to Dismantle Militant Groups in Afghanistan

The foreign ministers of China, Iran, Pakistan, and Russia have jointly urged Afghanistan’s authorities to take “effective, concrete, and verifiable” steps to dismantle terrorist networks operating from its soil.

Meeting on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly, the ministers reaffirmed support for Afghanistan as an independent, united, and peaceful state free from terrorism, war, and narcotics. They stressed that Afghan territory must not be used to threaten regional or global security.

The four states voiced alarm over the continued presence of groups such as ISIL, Al-Qaida, Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), Jaish ul-Adl, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), and the Majeed Brigade, calling them a “serious threat.”

They emphasized that countering terrorism, extremism, and narcotics is a shared regional priority and urged Kabul to dismantle training camps, disrupt recruitment and financing networks, and prevent cooperation with foreign fighters.

The joint statement also called for:

-Adjustments to UN sanctions to reflect realities on the ground, including travel exemptions for Taliban officials.

-Uninterrupted humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, free from political conditions.

-Regional economic integration to stabilize Afghanistan and improve livelihoods.

-Safe and sustainable refugee repatriation, with appreciation extended to Iran and Pakistan for hosting millions of Afghans.

-Inclusive governance in Kabul, ensuring rights for all communities, especially women and girls.

The ministers underscored that NATO members bear primary responsibility for Afghanistan’s current plight, urging the lifting of sanctions and the release of Afghan assets abroad. They also opposed any return of foreign military bases in or around the country.

Finally, the four sides reaffirmed support for diplomatic pathways, highlighting the roles of the UN, SCO, Moscow Format, and other regional platforms, while welcoming continued quadripartite consultations such as the recent Dushanbe meeting on September 12, 2025.

The September issue of Nawai Ghazwat al-Hind, the monthly publication of al-Qaʿidah in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), published a commentary attributed to “Abu Umar Abdur-Rahman” criticizing the recently announced Pakistan–Saudi security agreement. The piece alleges the pact was prearranged after Pakistan’s former army chief Raheel Sharif accepted a position in Saudi Arabia, and contends the deal was accelerated following an attack on Qatar.

AQIS claims Pakistan was previously pressured into Saudi involvement during the Saudi–Houthi conflict and that domestic opposition in Islamabad forced a more cautious official stance at the time. The article argues that shifts in regional power , including a perceived weakening of Iran and continued Houthi activity , created conditions for the new agreement, which it says serves U.S. and Israeli interests by bolstering the Saudi state.

The magazine also accuses Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of using the agreement to pursue social and geopolitical changes unpopular with the authors, and warns that Pakistani forces will be used to protect the Saudi regime and to counter armed groups in the Arabian Peninsula. AQIS frames its critique as principled opposition to what it calls the “domination” of U.S. and Israeli influence and to policies it views as harmful to Muslim societies.
