Eyewitnesses said armed villagers came out of their homes to confront the attackers, while the Behramkhel peace committee also joined the fight in support of the locals. Calls for assistance were made to nearby villages as well as to security forces. The firing eventually subsided after nightfall, though the situation remains tense.

So far, no casualties have been reported, but fears of possible human and material losses persist.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has reported the arrest of 89 individuals in 940 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out across Punjab over the past three months.

According to the CTD, the arrests were distributed as follows: 14 in Lahore, 14 in Rawalpindi, seven each in Faisalabad and Bahawalpur, six each in Jhang and Sargodha, five in Sahiwal, four in Gujranwala, and three each in Bahawalnagar and Gujrat.

Of those arrested, 55 were reportedly affiliated with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), five with ISIS, and two each with Al-Qaeda, Hizb-ut-Tahrir, and Jeay Sindh.

Items recovered during the operations included 20.2 kilograms of explosive material, 85 detonators, 183 feet of safety fuse wire, 717 pamphlets from a banned organization, magazines, detonating cords, mobile phones, and cash.

The CTD stated that 87 criminal cases have been registered against the suspects, and investigations are ongoing. The department added that the individuals were allegedly planning attacks on key buildings in several cities.

In related security operations this week, local police and security agencies reportedly carried out 13,521 combing operations, checked 552,692 individuals, arrested 1,131 suspicious persons, registered 1,061 first information reports (FIRs), and made 906 recoveries.

He had been attending the Jamia Darul Ilm wal Taqwa madrasa of Khasar Shahi for two years and had traveled from there to Pakistan along with several others. He was recently killed in Pakistan during clashes with security forces. The exact district in which he was killed is not known.

Last night, in Gelan district of Ghazni province, Afghanistan, Muhammad Tahir, alias Razaq Muhajir, son of Muhammad Saleem, a high-value commander linked to Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP), was killed by unidentified assailants.

Commander Tahir was reportedly a key figure in TTP’s intelligence network and maintained close ties with the group’s Balochistan chapter. He had long been associated with planning cross-border operations and attacks in Balochistan and remained on the security forces’ watchlist for years. More recently, he had been tasked with mobilizing financial resources to support and sustain TTP training camps.

According to local sources, Tahir was ambushed along with two associates. Reports suggest that after being shot, he was captured, executed, and subsequently beheaded. The assailants are said to have fled the scene immediately after the incident. Internal close door TTP sources have since confirmed the deaths linking the incident to internal divisions in the group.

Earlier today, an explosion occurred near a railway track in Dasht, Mastung district, police reported. According to officials, no casualties were recorded in that incident.

However, about an hour ago, another explosion on the railway track in the same area caused several coaches of the Jaffer Express, traveling from Peshawar to Quetta, to derail. One coach overturned, and multiple passengers were injured. Ambulances were dispatched to Quetta to transport the wounded.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, though such assaults on infrastructure are often attributed to the BRG.
