Leadership Arrives Amid Consultations

-Following the incident, Maulana Hazrat Khan Muneeb, Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Khyber Agency, along with tribal elders and local leaders, reached the affected area. Maulana Hazrat Khan, accompanied by Malik Syed Kabir and Shamsuddin Afridi, strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an act of β€œcruelty, oppression, barbarity, and aggression.” They called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take immediate suo moto action. Urgent relief measures, including ambulances from Rescue 1122, were demanded to assist the injured and provide medical care.

-Al-Haj Shamsuddin Afridi, Nazim Finance of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, stressed the importance of unity among tribal communities from Waziristan to Bajaur in opposing such injustices. He criticized the provincial authorities for failing to ensure peace despite the powers granted under the 18th Amendment, warning that responsible officials may one day have to answer for the blood of the tribes.

-PTI National Assembly member Iqbal Afridi claimed that 23 civilians were killed in a jet airstrike by Pakitsani Army in Akakhil, Tirah. He voiced his protest on social media and joined demonstrations at Badrha Chowk, Khyber. Discussions are ongoing about whether to continue protests at the site of the bodies or move them to the Corps Commander’s House in Peshawar. Resignations from the Assembly are also under consideration.

-PTI MPA Abdul Ghani Afridi addressed protesters at Khyber Chowk, announcing a full boycott of provincial government activities until justice is delivered for the martyrs. He demanded an immediate FIR against Brigadier and General Asim Munir, warning that failure to act could escalate the movement into a force capable of shaking GHQ itself.

Official Response

Authorities have denied claims of β€œcivilian bombings,” labeling such reports as misleading propaganda intended to defame the Pakistan Armed Forces. The military stated that its operations were solely against 'terrorists', whose groups led by Aman Gul and Masood had established a center in Akakhil. According to official sources, the terrorists had set up an IED factory in a civilian area, which exploded, killing 12–14 terrorists and 8–10 civilians allegedly used as human shields. However, critics argue that these explanations lack evidence and appear to be an attempt to cover up state failures as always.

Community Response

In response to the tragedy, the Akakhil tribe has reportedly decided to bury the women locally while taking the bodies of children and men to the Corps Commander’s House in Peshawar as part of ongoing protests. Citizens with vehiclesβ€”cars or motorcyclesβ€”have been called upon to join the demonstration, which is expected to move from Tirah Shadlay to the Governor House.
