The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) released a detailed statement claiming responsibility for an attack on a Pakistani military convoy on Wednesday, 18 September 2025, at Kanchti Cross in the Dasht area of Kech district, Balochistan.

According to the groupโ€™s spokesman, Jeyand Baloch, the convoy consisted of six buses that had arrived in Gwadar from Karachi the previous day and was heading toward Turbat when it was ambushed by the BLAโ€™s โ€œMajid Brigade.โ€

According to the statement, the attack began with a vehicle-borne explosion, when a militant identified as Altaf (alias Chakar) rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the convoyโ€™s main bus. Following the blast, other militants moved into the area and engaged the forces.

The statement further identified three of the five BLA fighters killed in the attack:

-Altaf, son of Abdul Rahman, from Alandur in Belida, who joined the BLA in 2023.

-Gharam (alias Zagrin), son of Farooq, from Lagarok in Prom, Panjgur, who also joined in 2023.

-Khalil (alias Kalmir), son of Fazal, from Sami in Balochi Bazaar, Turbat, who became part of the BLA in 2023.

The attack, the group said, comes amid Pakistan and Chinaโ€™s efforts to have the BLA and its Majid Brigade formally designated as terrorist organizations by the United Nations.

After the gun battle, three militants were found dead, identified as Muhammad Naeem alias Abdul Nasir and Muhammad Karim of Karak, and Noor Nabi of Nangarhar, Afghanistan. Weapons, magazines, and ammunition were recovered from their possession.

A video obtained by PakPluse Intel, originally shared by an Afghan Taliban-affiliated channel, showing an individual identified by his nom de guerre, "Shaheen." According to the channel, Shaheen was recently killed in Pakistan during a clash with Pakistani security forces. He is reported to have been of Tajik origin from Afghanistan. In the video, Shaheen can be heard speaking in Farsi, declaring his intent to fight in Pakistan.

Earlier, there were unconfirmed reports that Tajik Taliban militants had infiltrated Chitral from Afghanistan.

A February 2025 report by the UN Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team indicates that the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Jamaat Ansarullah (JA)โ€”a Tajik jihadist group often referred to as the "Tajik Taliban"โ€”have established joint training camps in Afghanistan. These camps are reportedly supported by both al-Qaeda and the Afghan Taliban.

Key locations include Khost Province, where al-Qaeda instructors provide specialized engineering and weapons training, and the Kalafgan district of Takhar Province, which serves as a dedicated center for Central Asian and Arab fighters.
