-🇵🇰/🏴: MONITORING The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has released a biographical video on Saifullah through Umar Media, the group’s official media wing. The 10-minute and 39-second video, presented in Urdu, is the 22nd installment of Umar Media’s “Rasm…

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) recently published the biography of Abdul Rahman, alias Saifullah alias Abu Baseer al-Shami, in the 39th edition of its monthly magazine Mujalla Taliban. His life story had also been featured earlier in the 22nd installment of TTP’s video series Rasm-e-Mohabbat, released by Umar Media. Abdul Rahman was identified as the head of the intelligence unit of TTP’s South Punjab chapter.
According to the account:
Abdul Rahman was born in October 2003 in Ahmadpur East, Pakistan, into a Saraiki-speaking family of the Jatt tribe. He studied in a local school until the sixth grade before enrolling in a madrasa, where he pursued the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum. His grandfather, Maulana Muhammad Suleman, was recognized locally as a religious scholar.
During his teenage years, Abdul Rahman developed an interest in religious activism. He came into contact with militant groups and became affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad, where he read literature linked to the group’s agenda and was influenced by the writings of Maulana Masood Azhar.
In 2022, he joined a training camp of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and received military training.
That same year, Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) detained him. He was held for a week, presented before a court on terrorism-related charges, and later moved to Central Jail Bahawalpur. After being granted bail, he was released but had to continue attending court hearings. He was acquitted of the charges in January 2024.
Following his release, Abdul Rahman continued his association with militant circles. He completed his intermediate-level exams and traveled with two associates to a training camp. During this journey, at Sambaza Fort around 2:30 a.m., he was injured in a drone strike and gunfire incident, sustaining wounds near his heart and hand.
After recovering at a camp near the Punjab–Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border, he became involved in media-related work and writings, some of which were later published in millitants installments.
In November, Abdul Rahman participated in a mission in Punjab under a Pashtun and then a Baloch commander. Over the following months, he gradually took on greater organizational and logistical responsibilities. By late January, he was appointed as a commander, leading intelligence and financial operations for TTP’s South Punjab network. He also helped establish a specialized unit under his command and contributed to the group’s media operations.
In June 2025, during an operation from Kot Mubarak to Basti Lakhai, Abdul Rahman was killed. According to accounts, while inspecting a checkpoint between Basti Lakhai and Basti Daulatwali, he was ambushed by CTD personnel in camouflage. He was struck by gunfire and fatally wounded after taking cover behind a mud wall. A companion was also killed in the incident, while other group members managed to escape.
