Today, associates of Nasir, alias Tariq Gidar’s group, opened fire on a taxi in the Domel Asparka Kali area of Bannu, injuring three passengers who were en route to Peshawar.

Yesterday, in the Sardi Khel area of Bannu, assailants also opened fire on civilians, killing four. Initially, security sources alleged that the victims were members of an Aman Committee and had been targeted by militants. However, local residents denied any connection of the victims to such a committee. Following this, security sources later claimed that the incident was a personal trade dispute rather than a militant attack.

It is alleged that because the deceased included Nasib Rahman, PTI Bannu Youth Wing president, and his son, security sources are attempting to shift blame onto the victims by labeling them as Aman Committee members, and then deflecting responsibility from militants by claiming it was not a militant attack. This comes in the context of recent misleading statements by DG ISPR, who had claimed that militants do not target PTI members.
