The TTP spokesperson, Muhammad Khorasani, recently participated in a question-and-answer session, responding to nine questions in an exclusive interview with the well-known Indian propaganda outlet, The Sunday Guardian. This publication is widely recognized for its affiliation with Indian agencies and has a documented history of amplifying and propagating anti-Pakistan militant narratives. Its content often mirrors the propaganda style of the Afghan Taliban’s media wing, Al-Mirsad. Notably, former TTP spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan has authored ten articles for the newspaper, further highlighting its role as a platform for militant propaganda.

Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS), an umbrella coalition of Baloch separatist militant groups, including factions of the BLA, BLF, BRA, and others, stated responsibility for 174 claimed attacks in 2025, representing a 14.7% decrease compared to the 204 attacks claimed in 2024.

According to BRAS statement, these incidents included attacks on infrastructure, armed raids, temporary road blockades, and IED attacks. Among the more significant attack cited by the group was an attack in Zehri town, Khuzdar district.

However, no independent verification of these claims is available. As with many militant organizations, the reported figures should be treated with caution, as they are likely exaggerated for propaganda purposes and may not accurately reflect ground realities.

Today, a child froze to death due to extreme cold in Tirah, highlighting the grave humanitarian challenges faced by displaced families during the ongoing evacuations from Tirah Valley. Reports from the field indicate severe mismanagement at registration centres and security checkpoints, with families traveling over 100 km, often on foot, and the most vulnerable, including women, children, and the elderly, facing the greatest hardship.

At registration points in Bagh, Dwa Thoye, and Paindi Cheena, evacuees endured hours of waiting in freezing conditions without access to food, water, or medical assistance. Individuals with pre-existing illnesses were left without necessary medications or health services. Long queues of vehicles caused additional delays, with families spending three to four hours to obtain registration tokens and another four to five hours for security clearance. Many, carrying all their belongings, were forced to spend nights at Paindi Cheena, the final registration point for biometric entry, after a prolonged and physically exhausting registration process.

Displaced persons warned that evacuations under such conditions risk escalating into a major humanitarian tragedy, noting the lack of adequate facilities at registration centres. Complaints also included delayed transportation payments, uncooperative registration staff, and restrictions by law enforcement authorities on transporting food and essential supplies, as officials sought to accelerate evacuations ahead of a full-scale military operation.

Additional difficulties arose from vehicle shortages and inflated transport charges, while local shopkeepers struggled to move goods to Bara due to insufficient warehousing facilities. Most newly-arrived internally displaced persons (IDPs) have sought shelter with relatives or rented houses and shops in Bara, as no official residential arrangements have been established.

In response, local groups including the Bara Siyasi Ittehad and Bara Traders Association have urged authorities to establish tent villages in Bara and Jamrud, as approximately 450–500 families continue to arrive daily.

Meanwhile, according to local sources, a significant portion of Tirah Valley is under militant control, including the areas of Adam Khel, Bhutan Sharif, Shalobar, and Zakha Khel. In these areas, residents’ identity cards are being confiscated, and militants are denying permission for movement. Reports indicate that militant groups have taken hundreds of families hostage, forcibly stopping vehicles and compelling residents to remain in their homes. It is estimated that up to 800 active militants are operating in these regions.

In the context of a potential security operation in Tirah, numerous TTP and TLIP militants have relocated from Tirah to areas near Peshawar in Khyber, including Akakhel, Qambar Khel, Jamrud, Malagori, and Malorot, where they have initiated attacks against security forces and police personnel while also increasing the risk of attacks in urban areas.

TTP spokesperson Muhammad Khorasani has released a statement against the Mulagori tribe after they neutralized and captured TTP militants attempting to infiltrate their territory yesterday.

It should be noted that, despite its relatively small size and perceived vulnerability, (2008) the Mulagori tribe was among the first to emerge as a significant force in confronting Taliban militants who had established a presence in their area. They organized a lashkar, an armed tribal militia, to combat and expel militants from their territory, successfully clearing multiple villages. Their initiative subsequently inspired other tribes in Khyber to form lashkars to counter the militant threat in the region.
