According to the latest data from the KP Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), 358 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents since August 15, with Buner reporting the highest toll of 225 fatalities. Another 181 individuals were injured. Among the deceased were 287 men, 41 women, and 30 children.
Buner was the worst-affected district, where flash floods and building collapses claimed 225 lives, including 193 men, 23 women, and nine children. At least 120 others were injured.
Shangla reported 36 deaths due to flash floods, followed by 22 fatalities each in Mansehra and Bajaur, and 20 in Swat, where both flooding and infrastructure damage were reported. While Upper Dir has generally remained peaceful, recent militant activity and attacks have been reported in the neighboring Lower Dir. Two days ago, a video surfaced showing militants operating in Upper Dir as well.
Locals reported that over the past two months, militants have been moving into Dubandow from nearby border areas. Some local farmers are believed to have collaborated with them, and more people joined later. The militants allegedly seized livestock and harassed residents. In one instance, locals captured a militant and handed him over to the police.
